Help Car won't start

Hi,
Any mechanics around at all please?
Went to start my car this afternoon after it has been stood since Friday, Astra 1.7 CDTi 2007 40,000 on clock. Started first time no problem at all, pulled away and 10 yards later it cut out as though stalled. Now it won't restart at all.
If I turn the key get a noise as though engine trying to turn but not making any effort to catch even though seems to be turning fast enough. (sorry noises hard to explain). Had Green Flag out, based on noise before he looked he though cambelt had gone but when checked crank was turning so not that. Put it on diagnostics that says all fine, so car perfectly healthy apart from fact it won't start.
Green flag man discovered that very little fuel getting to engine even though diagnostic says pressure is fine. I asked if it could be immobiliser but was told wrong sort of noise for it to be that.
Does anybody have any idea what it could possibly be? It's be running great no problems at all until this.
Thank you!!!!

When you find out which, check obvious fuses then if they are ok, no corrosion on fuse legs ect you need to locate the relay for the in tank fuel primer pump, its usually in the under bonnet fuse box, buy a new relay.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thank you, will have a look tomorrow0

Do you mean the camshaft is turning the crank is at the bottom the main pulley, if the cambelt has snapped the engine will spin over alot faster than it usually does because there isnt any compression, anyway moving on sounds like you might have a diesil pump problem, these engines are common rail and are normally quite reliable. Another train of thought you hadnt refuelled it just prior had you and got a tank full of petrol instead ? I dont get what your reference to noise is?
If its clattering its head off when turning over sounds like youve got major problems could be even the cambelt has jumped a tooth or the tensioner on the belt has broken up.0 -
They can clatter and whizz because they have no fuel to compress, the relays are very problematic.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I'm just going from what the green flag man said when it comes to cambelt sorry he just said it sounded like cambelt before he lifted bonnet but when he looked said it was OK and cranking. He didn't seem to like a girl asking too many questions. Lol
No hadn't refuelled since left home on Friday and it drove the 100 miles here no problem at all and am sure it was diesel I used. I only had 1/4 tank before refilled so would guess that would have had a problem before got here if had somehow managed to do that.
The noise is hard to explain, when I turn the key it sounds like it is trying to start but is quite high pitched and not even trying to catch and start, very hard to explain sorry it just turns and turns and doesn't catch to start.
If it was diesel pump would that have not given a fault code on diagnostics rather than say pressure is fine? Sorry I have no idea you will have to excuse my lack of technical knowledge, I know a little tiny bit about cars from watching my ex twiddle with them but I'm usually a take it to the garage kind of girl unless something very obvious like flat tyre, flat battery etc.
Does Vauxhall immobiliser cut fuel supply? Wondering if it worth getting someone to lend me their car so I can go and fetch spare key but obviously pointless if vauxhall immobiliser doesn't affect fuel. Thought immobiliser kicking in would explain why diagnostic gives no faults and says pressure is fine when the is actually no fuel getting through to engine. Don't know why immobiliser keep coming to mind sorry.0 -
It could be, but they have a primer pump in the tank that feeds the main diesel pump, it has no diagnostics to show up, it has a relay and fuse together in the under bonnet fuse box, it is a very very common fault and people have scrapped cars trying to fix it part swapping only to find it was a £5 relay playing up.
It only switches in to prime the main pump, so if its off-line, the car will not startHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thank you, guess will have to get a garage to look in the morning but at least I have a bit of an idea now so shouldn't hopefully get ripped off. Sounds like no point doing a big round trip to collect spare key just in case.
As for which Mark is it had a look on wikipaedia and think its a Mark 5, its that shape anyway.0
