Im not going digging
as I said it was done under FOI
it wont be held on the RM group sites0 -
It may well have been done, but Googling hasn't turned anything up, other than the quote above. Perhaps I'll do my own FOI request.0

The thing is, it is up to the importer to pay this. Many many items go through without any charges, so people are more reluctant to declare their own goods.
When RM pay the customs fees for you, the item is taken out of mainstream mail and treated like a special delivery, tracked every step of the way. The link custardly has given provides details of how to do this clearance yourself, however, it will mean that you won't get the occasional one slip through the net like they do now.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Sorry this is old thread but, I have had this a couple of times. the best way is not except the item... it will then get sent back and you can then claim money back from seller, in a eBay situation that is!
That's the strange part, how do royal Mail then get the money, they don't!! They slap on this charge because they can!!
The staff that do these mundane jobs, we caused by not declaring ourselves, are going about there normal working day.
Im not wining just making a point that I never pay the charge it always gets returned and costs Royal Mail even more..0 -

So you admit to knowing that there may be charges, yet you refuse to pay these, instead leaving the goods to be returned to the seller. The seller then loses out on the postage costs that they have paid due to your actions.
It's people like you who make me glad that I no longer sell on ebay.0 -
