Where are the after pictures honey?
haven't taken any ,but believe me as someone who has won a cup a few years ago for the best kept car in it's category and is as fussy as hel. about my cars
The repair is superb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
will have to get a pic to prove it ,but daughter is in work at the moment with the car0 -
I only offered as a goodwill gesture but now I am keen on going the route of letting her know to go ahead an make a claim on the insurance and no longer lose my sleep.
She will probably scream and shout that you admitted liability but it's up to your insurance company to admit it not you.
I also strongly doubt the garage/mechanic was charging that much for a respray as you can respray half a car for that amount and I'm in London.
BTW the reason why you let them choose the garage is that if the repair work is no good it's nothing to do with you. You hand them the cash and they hand it over to the garage.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Sorry for hijacking this thread but I have done something similar - at the railway station car park last night I was parked behind a lady in a BMW. I left the station first and in the dark didn't realise that I didn't have a lot of space to get out, so squeaked past her as I left my space, causing a scratch to both cars. Her husband came off the train and took some pictures on his phone; I didn't bother but the scratches were light, surface-only, definitely no dents. I would have said don't worry about it if the tables had been turned but I guess if you have a BMW you are more precious about scratches.
Does anyone have an idea of how much this would cost? We're going to get Chipsaway to do ours, which will give us an idea but I don't want him going to his BMW dealer and then asking us for £500 where £150 will do it. Obviously we don't have to pay for an expensive repair when a cheaper one will do it (they have to mitigate their loss) but I'd like to avoid arguments and involving the insurers if possible.0 -

You can't have it both ways!
The innocent third party is perfectly entitled to have his car repaired at his BMW dealer if that's where he wants it done!
If you start telling him he has to "mitigate" and get a cheap repair expect him to go straight to (your) insurers to get his car done to his satisfaction!0
