CPW, o2 Number Porting and Quidco Cashback
Options
I ordered a phone through Carphonewarehouse on o2. As I need to keep my number, you are instructed to telephone them before you place the order. I did so and was told that I would have to complete the order over the telephone otherwise I could not port my number, which means effectively that you do not complete the sale online (and then do not get the Quidco cashback). I explained this to the sales agent but he said that this was the only way to process the order if I wanted to keep my number. I went through with the sale as it is a good phone, but is there a way to resolve this please, as £37 cashback is a lot to lose (it is another mohth's line rental)? I have contacted CPW online but they are apparently so busy that they are not responding to emails (they send you an email to say this, which means someone read it as there was a long delay after the auto reply!).
I doubt that I can be the only person to have been affected by this (as anyone looking to port their number to a new o2 or Vodafone contract are instructed the same) and therefore there should be a solution. Clearly if this was not a cashback site that I was using, and just someone carrying the adverts on their websites for CPW, they are loosing a lot of revenue (or CPW are saving a lot of their advertising budget, depending on how you look at it).
Many thanks

Hi Anon,
I recently ported my number to O2 (from Orange), but used E2Save's website. The cashback I got was via Rpoints, who although only offer £16 for any contract phone, you can submit a 'highest cashback claim (HCC)' from any of their competitor, which they usually match. However they do deduct the £5 in Quidco's instance, as that it Quidco's 'membership fees'.
Due to personnal experiences with Quidco, I trust Rpoints more, and then claim the HCC offer.
Thanks........

Thank you - the phone wasn't available from e2save therefore I ordered through CPW - has anyone experience of getting this when they have effectively stopped you completing your order online? And how come CPW cannot process o2 and Vodafone porting online, but e2save, OSPS and others have no such problems? This demonstrates that it is not a technical issue?

O2 and Vodafone ports require some effort by the dealer so many choose not to facilitate these or instead charge a small fee.0
