All i wanted was some advice, i didn't want to be judgeed for asking such a stupid question. all i wanted was to be guided.

Nobody is judging you. About 30 people have, by and large, given you the exactly the same, sound advice and only one of those people was 'blunt' and 'direct'. You seem to have chosen to focus on that one particular post and ignore the rest! (and to be just as blunt, you're sounding a little whiney)

What would you rather have, a sharp answer and slightly bruised ego or a debt that is going to take you 50 years to clear rather than 10?

before my GF and I moved into our place in 2005 I worked for 8 months in 2 jobs and made sure I worked Friday and Saturday nights, just so I wasn't tempted to go out. I was on £15k in my normal job and took home £100 per week in my second job, meaning I was able to save £1200 per month and had around £200 to spend on everything else, with careful budgeting.

In the 8 months I had to save I managed to pull together nearly £10k for the deposit and moving expenses for the apartment. If you told your mum about your situation she may give you another year to live in the place, and possibly reduce your rent to peppercorn level. You and your OH could get second and even third jobs and clear your debts in a matter of 18-24 months. You'll then only be 25 years old with a good lending potential and you'll be ready to face the world!

My GF and I moved out too early in hinds sight as she was still at uni and we had a shortfall in earnings when she was in the final months of her degree and couldn't work. PLEASE think carefully about moving out, it's nice to own your own place but not quite as glam when you have a mortgage to pay!
  • Out of interest Beetlebug, overall what do you think of the advice you have been given?

Aww, honey... :kisses3: Don't beat yourself up, it wasn't a stupid question, you had a dream and you wanted to know if you could live with it. Nowt wrong with just asking, you've been given good advice on this thread that will help you if you follow it.

Good luck for the future. I'm sure you'll get your dream home at some point in the future :T
