Toilet leaks whilst being sat upon

That's 'sat upon' (not a spelling error).

Have noticed a bit of damp on the carpet behind the loo, further investigation has shown that we get quite a substantial drip whilst the loo is being sat upon!

2 questions

1) Any ideas what it could be (I am assuming a seal needs replacing)?
2) Also the likely cost of replacement/repair?

Hardly anything if you do it yourself. just the cost of the seal and that's it.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Is the Pan secured to the floor or is it loose?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    It feels reasonably secure.

If the soil pipe is secure and the pan moves it could give problems.

Is it a wooden or concrete floor?

Either the floor is moving or the pan is moving or just too much Xmas pud has been consumed. :D

Whichever of the first two (the last is a joke of course) you need to get it seen to. Just bunging some sealant of any description ain't going to solve your problem.

If its a pan problem then its an hour. If its the floor then thats more serious and a piece of string comes to mind for costing purposes.

If you secured the pan then this would not be necessary. But thats perhaps obvious. ;)
