    any friends help you out?
I have borrowed the odd outfit from my sister - she has to dress for the office I live in jeans most of the week.

I'm in Manchester. The only person I know who is female and my size needs her suit that day unfortunately.

I wear trousers/top (office wear) at work most days but not a suit, just thought that my usual attire wouldn't be smart enough for an interview. I'm never sure, its so easy for men, suit, shirt, tie, done!

  • I had to buy a suit last week and found the best place was Peacocks. I got a lovely brown pinstripe 1-button suit jacket and trousers for £26. They also had 3 or 4 different ranges which were quite young and trendy and were either trousers or skirt with matching jacket for either £26 or £30 depending which style you chose. They also had loads of different smart trousers for £6-£10 and loads of smart shirts/tops that could be worn with them for the office.

Alternatively I found a £19 suit for ladies in Asda. It was grey but it was in the petite range. I'm pretty sure they had a black suit for women in standard size for £19 too but I wasn't looking for black so didn't pay much attention.

For the OP, There's one in Heywood next to Morrisons.

Primark's suits are fine IMO. New Look also do some nice (cheap) separates.

    Hi Janine22,

I'd give trusty Primark a try.... my friend picks up really nice suits in there that are totally indistinguishable from her Next ones for about £12.00 for trousers and £10.00 for jacket. I got a suit in there for my 22 yo brother for £15.00 the other day so its always worth a look!

Also, supermarkets are a good bet. Sainsburys had a sale on their TU stuff when I was in last week so might be worth a look... failing that, as nearlyrich & woohoo_postingid mentioned, Asda and Tesco are both a good shout... if its good enough for Colleen!

Good luck in your interview and happy super-cheap-shopping!

I think H & M are still having a sale. I bought some lovely black trousers with white stripes reduced to £10.00 from £25.00. I think they are definitely worth a look.

All the best for your interview : )

Speaking as an employer, I'd say that suits aren't really essential these days - unless you're a stockbroker or insurance person, perhaps!

I look for someone who has clearly made an effort - so neat hair, reasonable and appropriate shoes, ironed trousers etc.

However, it's really important for you to feel comfortable, so if you think you should be in a suit, then go for that.

Good luck - let us know how you get on!

Though no-one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending.

  • My colleague bought a lovely suit at the weekend from Dorothy Perkins. £10 for the trousers and £10 for jacket. Fantastic quality.
PS Good luck with the interview
