My MIL (ex) gave me a £1 shop or market perfume so mank the plastic wrap was discoloured yellowy - Im allergic to perfume btw, she knows this! I know I know she is ex mil and its nice that she buys me anything but actually she only does it so she can say how wonderful she was still gifting me after so long ...seriously, dont bother or buy me a bar of soap!Life happens, live it well.0

My brother and I were once given a Slinky for Christmas... we lived in a bungalow.
Another year my brother opened a gift from my mum that initially looked like expensive foreign deodorant - until he realised it was half-full and had been left behind by the French exchange student earlier in the year.0 -

Is that so, if your gravy lays eggs, you have somewhere to keep them?
My worst present, as a teenager, was a set of gift bags (paper) in varying sizes, with a design based on a oil painting (dingy) of fruit in a bowl - complete with a fly. Yummy.
with a free fly?! marvellous!)

Oh dear as a poor MIL it is the most difficult present to buy. True it seems a lot of DL's think MIL hasn't made much effort. But I buy her favourite expensive bath and body butters and she says she has loads of it now. I never seem to get told her right size so things don't fit and every year I end up taking them back and exchanging for a voucher. Yet if I offer to get vouchers in the first place she says theres not a lot of thought put into a voucher. Still we do get on, but ladies do bear in mind, you will all get to be a MIL:A eventually!0 -
My brother called me up whilst out Christmas shopping last year to check what mobile phone I had.
Imagine my surprise when I opened my present and received a solar powered charger with attachments to every major make of phone.............except HTC (mine)

I have been in tears reading this!
Husband must be a contender........ one year it was a roll of selotape and this year five packs of Tesco light leek and potato cup a soup (actually I do like this and will use it....). He also gave me a book that I had finished reading on Christmas Eve, I'd told him that I had bought it even discussed some of the plot with him, but he obviously didn't listen very well...... However, I did get a lovely tonbridge-ware box from him (that I had won on his behalf on ebay!)
This year though I got my revenge and put together a Christmas stocking for him to open with the children, highlights of this included Gordon Brown loo paper, the dangerous book for idiots and a 3m long licquorice whip!0
