I kind of have a plan for the savings thing I'll have about £300 left after all my bills go out, so I was thinking something like this:
£50 for car
£30 for overpayment
£20 for birthdays/christmas
Then any money left out of the £200 remaining will be split into 3, 1 lot for my car account, 1 lot for the overpayment account and the rest to build up a buffer in my current account.
Then when Jan comes round any money left in the pressie account will be moved over to the overpayment account.
And needless to say all Ebay earnings etc will go straight into the overpayment account so I can build up a nice little amount to over pay once or twice a year
I'm actually looking foward to the challenge of paying it off early, but it is nice to know that I will have funds avaiable if I need it.Total at 9th Feb 12 - £17,500  Now - £6,851.05Loan - £6022.05, [STRIKE]Card 1 - £3293.85,[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Card 2 - £2287.04[/STRIKE], Sofa - £825.00Wedding Pot - £0.00

hi Pea, what you've done may not work for everyone but as long as you cut off the other sources of finance that you have just cleared then you should be fine. I consolidated my debt a few times and it wasn't until the last time that i didn't rack it all up again.
Though i'm planning on being debt free by christmas this year i can almost guarentee i'll still be here with you in 7 years time as i'm going to be concentration on my mortgage and saving for house repairs so as these boards are so nice, and not scary like the others i'll probably stick around here.0 -
Thanks LT

Well so far things are going great, I've closed all other forms of credit and had a little credit card cutting up ceremony :rotfl: and feel So much better for it all.
I feel that this was the best option for me and the bank have put a flag on my account saying no lending for a min of 12 months (not that I am going to go there again!) Kind of just getting my head around it all at the moment, but I will be hunting through this site for various challenges to get involved in to bring my DFD forward.
So what have I been up to? I've used some of this months spare cash to replace my 2 front tyres which were barely legal  and also spent £6 in Mr W yesterday replacing my windscreen wipers, which I fitted myself
Apparently I can do car maintenance :rotfl:
Things with Mr IT are going great. We were spotted out by some of his friends and he introduced me as his new girlfriend
:D:o so all is good there. But he has hurt his back so I've not seen him this weekend
Hope everyone else is ok, and I promise I'll update a bit for frequently, for some random reason I've not had the time

Hi
I'm really good thank you, I should be posting more on here though, I've just been really busy.
So Update:
Mr IT - all is going great
been about 6 weeks now and we are off this afternoon to play crazy golf in one of our local parks.
Money - all is ok, I have had the work done on my car, which was stressful. £350 for everything (my friends Husband is lovely
) but it involved 14hrs of labour, and they had to take the back of my car apart  So he has suggested I start saving for another one incase he can't get it through next year
.
I've made the first payment off my new loan which is great, as I am already in less debt than I was
and for once actually living within my means
I've signed up for loads of the sites on the offers boards, so will click until I have vouchers etc.
I have even been able to get some of the things I've been needing for ages by never had the money for. But I have been bargin hunting... I needed new works shoes (just cheap flats) found a black pair for £12 and round the corner they had a sales so 2 for £10 much better :A
So really everything is good at the moment, but I am going to aim to post at least once a day to keep me on the straight and narrow.
But first job of the day is to get out of bed :rotfl:
