OH is always going on about frittatas being a good way to use up stuff - so ok, I'll let him make me one!0 -

Or why not defrost one thing each day and finding out what it is first, and seeing if you can make something with it?0 -

Count me in too, fed up with throwing food away....I just seem to forget about it! As a starting point £10 for January because I have no idea how much I'm wasting at the moment.
Have just whipped up two portions of pea and ham soup using some leftover gammon that wasn't enough for a sandwich. Yum!Don't Throw Food Away Challenge January 2012 - £0.17 / £10

OH brought home some 9p dips the other night. We ate some with crips/veg/sticks over that night and the following day, but the rest ended in the bin-unless anyone can think of a way to use up garlic and onion type dips?

I sometimes put dips on top of a jacket potato or use it in a sandwich instead of mayo.

Had to throw out 2/3 bottle of milk - so I think I'm about £4.50 unfortunatelyPrincess Sparklepants0 -
Hi great thread.
I found in my freezer yesterday some grated lemon zest that has been in there for a few months. Should I bin it or is there anything I can still do with it, TIA
Hi Tulip,
You could try adding it to fairy cakes for lemony cakes, or add it to pancake batter. Or maybe even add it to a white sauce to go with fish.0 -

Just had the most awesome dinner ever!
Defrosted some roast chicken I had put in the freezer and mixed it with gravy, also defrosted some stuffing balls left over from christmas. Had my mini roast with some veg that was looking a little sorry and some apple and cranberry chutney I had made with windfall apples and cranberries that were on sale.
It was like a little mini christmas all over again, might even go the whole hog and have the last piece of christmas cake, and some champagne that got opened for my birthday at the weekend.
Woo hoo for leftovers!0
