Basic divorce advice desperately needed please.

    I don't think it matters in the least who paid the mortgage during your marriage, spouses often bring different things to the marriage and contribute in different ways.

    If OP was married 7 years presumably they may at least split everything gained during marriage 50-50.... Regarding the house, look at the current equity minus the equity at the time of the marriage, and split 50-50 that may be a starting point.... also, savings, pensions etc... OP may need legal advice in particular regarding the assets he brought into the marriage

    Some of the comments here are not very kind.
    Anyway, if this lady was only after becoming a UK national like some posters imply, couldn't she have left the marriage years ago (no need to be married 7 years?)
