Anyone bought a phone from Mobiles.co.uk (not involving cashback)?
Options
Hi,
I've been a fan of MSE for a few years now but this is my first post on the forums- hope you can help!
I'm looking for advice on Mobiles.co.uk as I am considering buying a mobile on a pay monthly contract from them. The deal does not involve cashback- I've seen the warnings on this forum for that (thanks guys :T). I know that Mobiles.co.uk has a poor rep for cashback deals but wondered whether it is ok if you're just buying a normal contract phone through them.
I've seen the warnings on their 'trials' which come as standard and have to be cancelled - I'd make sure I do this asap. Are there any other negatives?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have bought a phone through them without redemption cashback (I did get cashback through a cashback site if I remember rightly). The only hitch I had was the credit card company blocked my card as they viewed it a suspicious purchase. Apart from that no issues at all.0 -
I frequently order from them. All the ones I order are cashback contracts but that should not affect things in terms of the order (unless you ARE using cashback -in which case you have to be much more - er - particular!).
This dealer (and CPW in general) are in a complete mess at present (with cashback claims and other things) but a recent order I placed went through smoothly as mine generally have. There have occasionally been issues with offers on the website which are not honoured ("mistakes") and some problems with returns (never had to do that myself) but the alternatives may not be better (and some may be distinctly worse). I have seen the odd instance of the tariff which is set up being different to the one agreed to, but that appears rare.
The main problem at present (for which they are already renowned although my experience hasn't been as bad as many until recently) is that they make it difficult in the extreme to communicate with them should there be a problem. It can be done, but it's VERY hard work and time consuming.0 -
Thanks flyingscotno1 and mobilejunkie for your v. detailed advice; I'll bear all of this in mind. It sounds like I should be ok ordering from them then. I guess once I have received the phone any contract changes etc. would be through the network (T-mobile) anyway so I'd only have to deal with Mobiles.co.uk again if there were any handset issues. I'll continue to look around for other deals just in case but if I don't find any I might go for it. I'll post back on here to let others now how I got on.
Thanks for helping a Newbie!0
