Cheapest SIM Free phone

Options
Hello, I am looking to buy a new, basic SIM Free phone as my contract ends shortly and I will be selling the handset (no need for internet facilities etc as I will not be paying the fees).

I have been looking at buying an old Nokia from eBay for about £10, but was wondering if there is anything available new.

I am looking for the absolute cheapest new phone out there that is unlocked, or locked to O2 (will be going with GiffGaff).

This is the best I have found so far but you need to buy a top up with O2 which makes it £25.

I got my parents a Nokia 100 for Xmas (they just wanted a basic phone!) - I got this from Phones4U and it was sim free. They said they are all sim free (what is the point of locking such a basic phone)

All I had to quote was one of their numbers (to confirm they had not had an upgrade in the last 6 months) - no top up required. So if you know someone on PAYG then perhaps do the same. The cost of the phone was £9.99.

remember to buy through quidco if getting from carphone warehouse - £5 cashback for a payg phone...and they always track and pay out :)

e.g. I got a samsung E2121B, with a virgin SIM/£10 airtime pre-loaded for £14.95 (free delivery), -£5 cashback = £9.95, then as all their phones are unlocked anyway, you could sell the SIM/Credit pack for another few ££ back. Very good handset, inc. FM radio, bluetooth, microSD card slot, mp3 player, camera - basically prety much anything you could need except internet. Check it out.

edit - this model's now gone up to £9.95 cheapest, so £19.95 with the top-up. The week running up to xmas when I got one it was £4.95. However, it's such a capable phone with more features that it's still worth a look.

I would be quite happy with the Nokia 100 actually. Did you have to haggle for this or did you just walk into the store?

I can't find it for less than £20 on the internet with mandatory top ups.

Ha ha - I got the same phone just before Xmas too! I'm really impressed with it. The built-in FM radio is much better than I was expecting - I get much better reception than with my old pocket radio AND the audio quality is surprisingly good using the supplied earphones.

I've just been away for ten days and although I haven't made any calls, I've sent a few texts, listened to the radio for maybe 30 mins, and left it on 24hrs a day and it only dropped from 5 "battery-power-bars" to 4 (although it went down to 3 once I'd been home a few hours). It'd probably last a month on standby.

Okay, the screen looks a bit basic and the rubbery keypad doesn't shout "quality", but everything else about the phone is amazing - I'm well impressed.
