  • Hi Shockingpink, did you book your ferry direct with Brittany Ferries? Thank you for your reply.

I did - if you're a member of the AA you get a 5% discount; basically it cost £440 for two overnight ferries with a cabin in each direction (this is May and June). That is terribly expensive - but the supplements for Brittany Ferries with each of the camping companies is £300 or more. When you add that on to the cost of their "Base price" you can see where the over £1000 comes from.

What I would suggest is choosing your site from one of the brochure descriptions, then Googling it to see if they do their own accomm and book direct. Mind you, I haven't actually been yet, so might say differently when I get back in June!

Siesta holidays do accomodation nly or coach travel included to France and Spain. If you look under late offers they have lots of offers at really good prices. They also do half board/full board and all inclusive at excellant prices.

I've used venue holidays for the last 2 years and stayed at the campsite near roscoff in Carantec (camping village les mouettes). Its a fantastic site with a huge swimming pool, that has slides and even an adult area with sauna and jacuzzi (over 18's only). The site is very safe for children of all ages and I would certainly recommend it.
There is a cheap supermarket of site very close and a huge supermarket a short drive away (15mins).
Tents are large and clean, as are the shower/toilet blocks.

Feel free to pm me if you want anymore details.

This year, as I have saved a bit more money (thanks to everyone on here :D )
we will be using venue holidays to travel to spain from plymouth yippee!!!!!!!

have stayed both times in the tent, always gone in the may/june school holidays (only £500 for 2 adults and 4 kids) and weather was great, not too hot but warm enough to swim in pool and get a tan. The beds were really comfy.

For spain we are taking the posher option of the mobile home, just because I can :rotfl: have just booked it and it cost £1200 for 2 adults and 4 kids, plymouth to santander taking car. We will be in Spain for 10 nights so really looking forward to it! :D:D:D

If you want the kids to be able to attend the kids clubs (eurocamp) maybe worth checking what is available for the kids in the way of clubs if you book independently

    I've been Money Tipped!
Not sure if this is too far to travel (just past La Rochelle) but I'd certainly recommend this site :

    http://www.2plages.com/

You can book directly with them over the internet. We stayed there last year in a mobile home and the site + location is excellent (just on the edge of a small town with a lovely beach but close to La Rochelle and some off shore islands etc.) We flew into La R airport on FlyBe from Southampton.

This year we are off to Italy (again staying in a mobile home) and found that booking accommodation through http://www.suncampholidays.co.uk/ was actually cheaper than going directly to the campsite (!)

    HTH

p.s. We (2 adults, 2 children (4 and 1)) went out of season so there was no children's entertainment running but there are swimming pools, pirate themed playground, a bar with table football/arcade games, etc. There are apparently organised events in high season though.
    That's Numberwang!
