Hi, Just received my 20 metre ethernet cable from esspresso's link,:beer: and laid it under the floor to pc in 15 mins, (bit tight, but not fat anymore).so, you can easily turn off the internal wifi card in the laptop, force the router to just use one channel by selecting G only in the interface and selecting a channel for minimum interference, and get a wifi usb dongle. Job done for a fiver and 10 mins
PC running fine with it. 8+mbps steady. excellelent, compared to what I was getting. £2.30 delivered. free.(great)...cost more to post xmas card;
Still looking at usb adaptor for conservatory, got plenty of time. grandson came yesterday with his netbook, got good signal where my pc is, proves it must be wifi card .You were right again gunjack .Does fixing on G, instead of b/g/n, allow the router to use 1 channel only, instead of the default 1+5 dual channel? .:Cheers all for advice.:beer:0 -
