This would be my third laptop from hp and 5th computer in total and none have ever had a fault. I did drop one once but that was my fault. The company I work for has hp desktops and mainly hp and acer laptops. toshiba once seem good but shame about the spec differene, and I do need a hdmi port
I went into comet to find out what they had, the advisor didn't seem very interested and not as knowledgeable as the chap from currys, and when I mentioned about this deal in currys he didn't mention the asus and then said they have nothing that beats that deal.
My friend got the i5 one in blue, he's very happy with it. I'm still deciding0 -
Over past 3 years,we have had 3 hp laptops fail.
2 failed with overheat motherboard problems
1 battery failure after about 18 months
Wont be buying another Hp again,
especially after m8 of mine was over from Australia
and he had the same motherboard failure as i did,
so seems it's a generic problem with some/most Hp Laptops!
Admit it is a good price for a laptop,if you take on board
the high failure rate.
Flip side:
50 HP laptops all used by children not one has failed after 3 years except for the odd key being pinged off or failed PSU all of which HP replaced/repaired FOC (HP carepack inc accidental damage).
The biggest problem is the wireless hardkey, too easy to turn off/on major PITA
Oh and i'd take out the 3 year Carepack with accidental damage cover direct from HP (UM948E) for £125 which includes all courier charges and repairs inc accidental damage cover which IMHO is a bit of a bargain. Certainly compared to the Currys Whatever happens crap at £1690 -
Not a lot of choice in colours left guys. Pink, blue, purple are pretty much gone. Charcoal is on it's way out. Most stores only have red left. Reserve and collect if there is a specific colour you have in mind before you go down.0

The CPU whilst still a Sandy Bridge CPU isn't as good as a "straight" i5 as in the other laptops but it's not too bad either

I would always recommend HP, never gave me any probs.
3 year old laptop still going strong and base unit HP still works (tho not used much)
Failing HP just buy Apple as you can never go wrong, applecare is fantastic.Keep positive!!!!0 -
The Toshiba is a 1st generation i3. The £349 HP is the same.
The £399 HP is 2nd generation i5 and is by far the better value.
ah thanks for that info, hadn't noticed difference. unfortunately i only want to buy from jlp so i am still looking and wondering how to choose!
best wishes to all0 -

Not a bad price shame about the processor though, pentiums don't have hyper threading like the I3 and i5s so it would be noticeably slower, shame again no hdmi. I3 370 still much better benchmark compared to the toshiba with the pentium0 -
i have 2 dell laptops and 2 acer ones, the dell ones have had very bad battery problems - mine was replaced within first year and now is dying again - on my 17in studio lappy. - the acer ones seem ok.
