Hp Laptops Currys I3 6gb £349

Just been into Currys today and they are doing a HP laptop with 6GB Memory 640 Hard Drive for £349 and a HP i5 6gb memory with a bigger hard drive for £399.
Looked around couldn't evan find anything that comes close, and very surprised nobody has mentioned it on here already.

It is available at PC World as well.

The £399 one is only supposed to be £400 anyway according to HP:

...and guess how much the £349 one is supposed to be....

  • I have noticed with a lot of the laptop deals there has been no reduction really just a sales gimmick esp with HP ones.
    Keep positive!!!! :D
  • We've just got one of these, you can't get higher spec for the same price, plus my daughter wanted purple. Quite a lot of bang for your buck! We were looking at i3 for £399 now we've got i5 with 6gb & 750gb. We're very happy thanks Jimmyc.

The Toshiba is a 1st generation i3. The £349 HP is the same.

The £399 HP is 2nd generation i5 and is by far the better value.

The £399 HP is better spec, although they seem to have taken a backward step in terms of case plastics and build quality on 2011 models compared to 2010 models - although that is a matter of personal opinion I guess!

  • Hi,
Although I have pressed the thanks button for Withabix, I would like to give credit where credit is due. I am looking for a laptop and hardly know a thing about them other than how to switch them on so am I following W's advice as he writes/speaks in simple terms which I think people like me understand and can follow. Thank you so much for the comments you have taken the time to post. It is very much appreciated. Sally

I have been working in Currys ofr the past few weeks as a part time rep and I have to agree, the i5 processor is a far better model than most which is out there.

Many of the staff have got one for themselves or their families (which is always a good sign) and they also have been directing customers to these as the alternatives include a AMD processor, 4gb, 320gb hard drive....all for £379. Might as well go for the I3 one for £349 and save yourself some money or go for the i5 one to be 'futureproof'.

The industry changes so quickly that these up to date laptops will be old news in a matter of a few months.

Stock is low though so grab one soon if you are thinking of getting one.

PS I am NOT on commission :)
  • Hi all. Quick question about this one;
Would it be able to handle editing photos in photoshop?
    Thanks

The tosh a one doesn't have a hdmi port either
Ill be going in with a couple of friends to look again as its them who are in need of new laptops.

Withabix I would be surprised if hp had it advertised any different on there own web page.

They both will be fine for photo editing i5 faster
