Very dificult to guess, and type of vehicle, type of use, age of car /tyres Etc. would prove useful info.

I doubt if it is the brakes, more like a problem with wheel alignment and this can only be assessed by knowing what vehicle you have.

Could it have been damaged before you bought it?

Lots of info MIGHT give you an answer.

It's a Fiesta, 55plate, mainly town occasional motorway driving, 17 alloy wheels.

I've had it since new. The tyres have been changed once before and that's it.

    Thanks for any help
  • What was the cause of the tyre wear in the end?

One other thing, is the offending tyre badly over or under inflated? Either way, a tyre centre should offer you free advice.

Is the car parked on the street at night, or in an unattended car park? Someone with an identical model could just have swopped wheels to get a decent spare.

Don't laugh, it happens a lot.
  • My rear Kumho tyres have been on for 10K miles now and the tread is still at 7mm.

One of the front budgets has been on 11K and still has 4-5mm left.
