January 2012 Grocery Challenge

  • Small spend today but have almost doubled my grocery spends over the weekend due to having the kids and the boyfriend to feed this weekend. Still not too bad suppose - but lots of what I would call luxury items such as bacon and creme eggs bought just because it was the weekend as well as £5 on two toothbrushes for the kids.

No plans to spend anymore money until the weekend - not that I have a choice after making the mistake of clicking on a dodgy 'free giftcard' link on facebook and ended up having to cancel my debit card as apparently it was a virus whch clones your card details from your amazon account!!! So I'm currently using the last £10 in my purse until my new card arrives!

Planning to keep my grocery budget to £125 for February. I've really enjoyed doing the grocery challenge this month. It has allowed me to keep focussed as well as closely monitor just how much I spend on food which is essential if I'm going to clear this debt quickly :)

Hi there, hope you don't mind my joining in but needs must with the pursestrings this month.

I'd like to join in the challenge and set a budget of £200 for February please.

I'm determined to do this and save as much as possible. This is for everything shopping-y for DH and I.

    Thanks,

  • GreenT-Your list sounds like mine but mine would be far worse! Good on your for managing to list it!
Re quick pizzas I once bought T***co ones but then Iceland started doing theirs and for £1 a go they are perfect and you don't need to add anything at all!
If you want homemade though, I do a pizza dough in the BM which makes 3 pizzas the size of a victoria sandwich tin(Thats what I cook them in)and I bag this in 3 parts in the fridge-it will keep all week!

I had my Approved foods order today-lots of marinades and foreign foods-that is what tempted me! DD queezed it in my cupboards but oh dear-I had better stop buying NOW! Just have to update totals!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

another £27 to declare :naughty: must stay out of the shops :o or at least stop buying stuff I dont actually need just coz i'm already over budget its not an excuse to think whats a few more ££££

thinking of trying a meat order with DR for feb maybe a nice steak for valentines day anyone know if they take paypal?? or any recommendations on whats worth buying?

not decided on feb budget yet I know i'm well over this month but alot was bulk buys which will be brought back via 2nd purse system though gonna tweak it slightly and buy back at what I paid rather than full price as I'd never pay full price as a rule and think it would eat into the budget too much otherwise thus not saving me money in the long run. also need to budget for 1/2 term

congrarts to all those who are coming in on budget and well done to the rest of us for at least making a start on getting the spending under control even if we're not doing as well as we hoped
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk
  • Hi all did the last shop for the month Im gunna declare at £272 which is over budget but I was expecting it to be over. However Im gunna try recoup it next monthe so would like to be put down for £228 this will hopefully balance the books.
I have a freezer full of stuff and have 2 xmas cakes still to open so going to use up as much stuff as I can. The three kids have not moaned about me reducing the snacks which is good hope they dont moan about the possible odd meals this month ;)

  • NSD today, but popping in to set my budget of £200 for Feb.

Not going to declare January yet as I still need a couple of things for Thursday's dinner that I couldn't get in my weekly shop yesterday. But other than that, we have enough in the house to get through the week. So should definitely come in under £200, very pleased! :money:

I am trying again. Need to get my spending under control. Get paid on Thursday and going to go for an annual budget. Can you put me down for £3500 till the end of the year.

    Thanks

  • Evening all

Havent been able to keep up with all the posts but have been trying to keep up with budget.

Am over budget by about £16 at the moment, boooooo. The positive is that i have been able to take £20 from my petrol budget (which is +£40 at the mo) to help the grocery budget, so havent had to go into overdraft or savings. Yaaaaaaaay.
Still have a few fresh bits to get. My Feb GC starts on 30th Jan so a week to go. So not declaring just yet.

On the plus side (of being over budget) i have plenty of dinners in the freezer. Made a load of salmon and courgette pasta, chicken and sweet potato hotpot and vegetable pasta bake. So enough to get through the next couple of weeks not including weekends, as hubby is home at weekends so we have 'proper' dinners then. :rotfl:

    Hope everyone is well.

  • My last January shop will be this weekend and I'm almost certain to go over budget. So maybe £50 a week is not quite enough. Just to motivate me a bit more I'll try £55 a week, so I'll set my budget for Feb at £220 please. I will do my best not to blow that.
