Hi all, hope everyone's well today.

I made a big booboo last night, it'll teach me to keep off the pc on the rare times I have a drink. I'd been reading through the Second Purse thread and saw the DR butchers being raved about. There were links to some of the offers. You can see where this is going, can't you? Yup! I followed through and made a purchase. What made it worse is, despite putting a code in for free delivery, the code didn't work so I paid an extra £5 for del. It came to £44 all together! I never pay that much out even with a big shop in a sm. Smack hands!!!!!
I also went to A&da today with DD but only bought a loaf and a bread mix to try my hand at baking one myself. So spent £1.36 on those and £44 on meat. Hope it lasts us at least a couple of months.

Hugs to all who need one.

Hi everyone. Well I was going to have a NSD today but the rabbit ran out of fresh herbs, so I dispatched DH on a mission to MrC. I was amazed, he came back with two bigs bags of Rocket, Watercress and Spinach for 30p each a saving of £1.30p on each bag and he also noticed kitchen roll at half price. So total spend £1.59!!

I made Mince pies today with leftover homemade mincemeat which I found buried in the freezer from 2010. (Not sure if that's actualy ok, but it smelled nice).
4 pasties with the left over beef from a roast, some jam tarts with leftover pastry from the mince pies and pasties. Also froze two lots of yesterday's homemade spicy root veg soup. Used 2 portions for our lunch today and kept another another two portions in the fridge for tomorrow.

We're having lamb shanks for dinner tonight which have been cooking all day in the slo-cooker. I've added all the veg in as well, Shallots, Carrots and Sweet potato, so an easy one today but it smells lovely.

I'll try for a NSD tomorrow.

Under again this week. Last week DH came shopping with me, and as I was putting something in the trolley I thought "I bet he'll say 'you buy the same things every week so I don't know why you bother making a list'". Sure enough, about 5 seconds later he did say that! I must be psychic.

TRy contacting them - I had the same problem with an online order from Whittards before christmas - except this time I forgot to put the number in at all - they credited me with the difference.

hello i was just wondering...i am keen to save money on groceries wherever possible and am happy to sometimes buy value brands however i can see that quality varies from product to product. i bought tes*o value smoked salmon last night and it was very watery, i managed to get some good bits but ended up throwing the rest out as it just wasn't nice. wish i had have just paid the extra pound now for the normal stuff.

i was wondering if you guys could recommend what value products you have found to be good quality?? one thing i find to be fine is tinned chopped tomatoes.

Do you still have the packet and receipt? You should be able to take it back and tell them it was not nice. I have genuinely done that a couple of times and had a refund.

  • Well, spent £35.09 at Mr T's so with £4 voucher came in at £31.09 but bit annoyed as I bought two stir fry turkey packs at £3 each but 2 for £5. Either I misread a label or its not come off my receipt. It might have been that the turkey was sitting in the wrong place but I will pop in after work tomorrow to check. Its not showing as an offer online but neither is anything else for turkey. Hey, its only £1 but now I'm watching what I'm spending its annoying. I am also paying in cash for all food and keeping money in another purse, so I really think twice about what I am buying. Its too easy with a debit card sometimes. I now have enough cereal, rice and pasta for two months and enough dinners for two weeks. I was always a T*esco girl but am finding Sa*nsbury is a far more reasonable these days and probably my favourite place to shop now. Hope everyone has a good week at work and can dodge the endless germs out there at the moment.

  • 2 NSDs on the trot for me.... that'll help me get through to payday without going over.

Please can I ask if you do come under budget what do you do with the underspend? I dont know whether to save it in my sealed pot or carry it forward.

Also - as we get near to the end of the month is it a new thread for the new challenge? - I'd like to reduce my target for february a bit

    Thanks
