  • = Just like a Mc D's breakfast for under £2 for 4 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very bad for you but a lovely treat. I do quite enjoy "cloning" takeaway food. Does anyone else?

I love the book The Takeaway Secret as it has recipes of all fav takeaways like Mc D's, kebabs, chinese, indian etc so you can make your own version of takeaways, naughty but nice.

This is why I refuse to go in T's - the CS desk staff are damned rude, as are head office. I had a problem a couple of years ago, where I made the fatal mistake of parking in their car park and quickly visiting another local shop before doing my food shop in their store. The reason they knew I had not been in the shop, is that my car door was not shut properly (but still locked) so they put a message out on tannoy. When I returned to car, I had a ticket on the window saying please visit CS desk. I went up and it was explained to me what had happened and they had put a tannoy message out for the car reg. When no-one responded to the message, they assumed I was not using the store. At this point, I was still thinking the best and thought they were trying to help out a customer, but alas no. I showed the CS assistant my receipt from 10 minutes previously, but she just shook her head and said I was not allowed to visit any other store in the complex whilst using their car park. I was gobsmacked. I politely pointed out that the signs in the car park state that it is for Tesco customers only (of which I would have included myself) and does not clearly state that users of the car park should UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SET FOOT IN ANY OTHER SHOP. They refused to budge from their petty stance and when I wrote to the manager at the store to complain, I received no response.

And they wonder why customers are going elsewhere?
Not sticking up for Mr T but I had a lovely chap on CS the other day when shopping there. Also I did phone CS office a couple of weeks ago about an item that was meant to be on special offer but was not - in my local shop - was sent a £4 gift voucher as an apology.

hello i was just wondering...i am keen to save money on groceries wherever possible and am happy to sometimes buy value brands however i can see that quality varies from product to product. i bought tes*o value smoked salmon last night and it was very watery, i managed to get some good bits but ended up throwing the rest out as it just wasn't nice. wish i had have just paid the extra pound now for the normal stuff.

i was wondering if you guys could recommend what value products you have found to be good quality?? one thing i find to be fine is tinned chopped tomatoes.

Walked to L1dl earlier and spent around £16 on milk, cheese, sausages and a few other bits. Total so far this month is £185 and only one shopping weekend to go so hoping to come in on budget. Plan to spent £50 at Ald* next weekend by taking advantage of the £5 off vouchers on a £30 spent that are supposed to be in one of the newspapers this week. I don't need much but it'll be worth stocking up on some wine and beer. I also need the dishwasher tablets that are on offer at L1dl next weekend.

I've spent the day baking again. Did a farmhouse loaf in the BM that was half a packet of mix from L1dl, a batch of cheese, tomato and pesto muffins, some cup cakes and twinks hob nobs. I have dough in the machine again to make a cheese bread too. All of these should last the week for breakfasts and lunches at work and snacks to stop us buying biscuits and cakes etc.
  • Hi all. I've been quiet in this thread but it's because I've been staying out of the shops. :j

I could have pushed shopping until tomorrow as I didn't need anything for tonight's dinner but had another £5 off £25 to use in M&S that expired today, so went down this afternoon. WAY too busy but managed to grab a couple of good whoopsies such as cheesy coleslaw and their lush chilli con carne cooking sauce both for 10p.

I got excited when I was about to go to the tills as I saw a trolley rounding the corner stacked with nothing but whoopsies but there was a kid instead of a staff member pushing it. The kids were literally picking up every item with a sticker and putting it in the trolley. Hope the mum was going to go through it and put back what they didn't need/want as a lot were ones I'd left on the shelf because they weren't actually good deals, e.g. £4 for two tiny pieces of salmon.

Stuck to my list apart from the good whoopsies and total spend was £21.84 after the voucher. Still have a couple of storecupboard items on my list they didn't have (as always - have left feedback that this needs to be expanded) so will have to go to a supermarket soon, but otherwise pleased.

Need to catch up on the thread, so hope everyone is well and hugs to all that need one.

    Hi folks,

Right, after much deliberation I have decided on a budget for February.

Helen - please put me down for £475 (F) for February. This will include the final milk bill (cancelled at the end of December but still had two weeks to pay ), DS1s school 'thumb' dinner tab, and £20 to my second purse (upped from my original £10 as there's a few bargains I want to get this week :D). This represents a £25 cut on January. Baby steps........

Off to do our meal plan. Have a good evening everyone.
