The mince I got out of the freezer last night has not defrosted in the fridge (meant to take out of the fridge and put on the side and forgot this morning.) So the choice is bacon and brocolli pasta bake or cauli and broc cheese.....hmmm! desicions, desicions!
Any votes either way? What would you cook?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Hi all,
Hope it's going well for everyone so far this year
I am finding that in order to really try and reduce my grocery budget that I am having to stay out the supermarkets. You'd think this would be a good thing but having just discovered the best time of day to go into my local W******e for great reductions I am finding this hard - I think I have a whoopsie addiction!!
In any event I have spent more than I thought but then this does include a big store cupboard shop... my total so far for January is £148.75 so I am well on track to stay within my budget. This could have course change any day..... :rotfl:

£2.54 on 2 loaves from the bakery for a communal lunch with my team in work...it was money I could have done with not spending, but it was really enjoyable and I got to eat some really nice food that other people made so it was well worth it.
Next month my total will be much more realistic!! Off to London this weekend to visit my boyfriend so I have a separate budget for what I will be eating there. We are likely to eat out at least once or twice and then hopefully he will cook the rest of the time! I will try not to spend too much in the airports and train stations on the way there and back!!!! 18 days til payday...........Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
My savings: £4878.54/£7000
Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)0 -
NSD here. Feeling ropey with a cold and was tempted to go to supermarket and buy some nice tasty food (thinking curry), but decided on tuna pasta for tea instead and have all the ingredient in. DH still keeps coming home with reduced bargains from work - trying to encourage him only to bring freezable stuff as otherwise most (bags of salad/cold meats from deli counter) ends up in the bin! Reduced or not, it ain't a bargain if it's wasted!January 2012 GC £296.96/£3000

Doing ok today. Have made some bread in the bread-maker as I like having chunky bread for dipping in my soup, made some quiche which will do tonight and tomorrow's dinner and some wee pastry jamrolls with left over pastry from the quiche.
Will need to do a shop soon. Also thinking I may stock up on milk and freeze it.0 -
Spent €2 to-day on Aldi broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms and salad potatoes...good value, bringing my total to €80.17, leaving me €5.25 daily for rest of month....mmmm, not bad but then if I go mad on something will be a different story!

Spent £155.14 already this month, but this has included stuff for special meal for MIL brithday this Saturday. Have stocked well up on half price cereal at Tesco and they gave me a £7 off £50 spend which should help next week. I see veggie curry & chicken broth on next weeks menu.0

Have started a home delivery shop which just by clicking through my favourites and adding what I need/favourite items on offer has resulted in the total creeping to over £100
will look at it again when I get home. suspect all those offers I have added will be deleted as some I have no immediate need for and far better the money in my pocket than with the supermarket.
Hi Flat Eric, I've started using My Supermarket website so I can work out if my usual supermarket is actually the cheapest, it's a real eye opener the difference in prices.:hello:
