    Hi everyone,

thanks for starting the thread

Totally mucked up last year, everything went belly up.

    So i'm starting a fresh. Again :o

So very sheepishly please could i rejoin the challenge, when i read and post along i tend to keep within budget and not lose track. If its okay please could you put me down for £200 for the month.

Well so far its been quite high as i noticed a lot of things have risen up price or just not available cheapish anymore. Even the thought of buying mince from the supermarket is crossing my mind! Instead of the local asian shop.

So far i've spent £23.73 on cat food, which i need to buy more of Thursday as the darn cats have scoffed the lot .

Milk has risen the corner shop by a quarter in 24 hours, tuna risen from 45p to 55p and now 75p in sainsbugs:eek::eek:

Beef mince hasn't been available for a while in the local butchers, i'm thinking it could because of the rise in price of it. Instead its either lamb for £3.99 a kilo or mutton for £5.99 a kilo. So lamb it is.

Got 10kg of onions for £2.49 think its works out just shy of 25p kilo, so should last us a while, fingers crossed.

Oh if anyone see this brand / type of rice its quite cheap and its really nice. Its called Village Pride - easy cook pre-fluffed quality long grain rice i got 4 kilos for £3.99 as it was cheapest from the local grocer.
My partner normally can't stomach long grain rice but this he can eat, it tastes very similar to basmati. Hope this helps someone.

Well better see whats whats in the freezer tomorrow, got a feeling its involves sprouts, oh the joy lol
  • Well, I had to spend some more money today. Dd has started doing cookery at school, costs a fortune for the ingredients :(

Really, really need to stay out of the supermarket!!

  • Another NSD here. Eating my way through my freezer stash. I have so far hardly made a dent in it and suspect that this won't change since I have ingredients in the cupboard waiting to be batch cooked into soup and stews!

The way it's going currently, I think I may be able to keep my food spends under £75 fot this month!!

This evening was reheated veggie chilli and cornbread from a batch cook before Christmas. Tomorrow I'm thinking jacket potatoes, beans and cheese
Separated 17/06/10, now dealing with the fallout
House sold and debt cleared 23rd May 2014. Now saving to get married!
    Current savings £0
  • Wow, you're doing great!

I looked when I was in Mr A at the weekend and it was 75p there too  - sorry but not paying that for tuna!

Does anyone know how much it is in Al*di atm?

It did go through a phase a wee while ago when it was cheaper there the last time the "big 4" put it up.

The price can vary by 20p/tin in a week which is just ridiculous.....

Whiskas was on offer @ £2.50 / box at Mr A last weekend so may be worth a try if you've one near / cats will eat it!

  • Need to catch up on posts over past few days but need to declare an extra spend before I forget.

Was given a very nice brace of pheasants today - and with the wonders of the web I skinned them both - normally I'd do the long way round of plucking them but not this time - anyway they may have been free but I want some streaky bacon to cover them when they are roasted so while DD2 were at footy training I popped into the local N*sa supermarket nearby.

Anyway £6.29 lighter ten minutes later I was the one spitting feathers!

Absolutely the worse ever SA on the till --she was talking to another girl as I put my stuff on the belt ,she didn't turn it on to move it so I had to push it up to her, no smile, eye contact, or greeting - she just continued this long conversation with another lass/customer at the end of the till with her face turned away from me, ( I now know she had her handbag stolen including car keys & purse, that she knew who it was and had to phone her Mum to ring her bank to sort out her bank card!) Never told me the total of my spend - luckily I could read the till myself:o and handed over two five pound notes, she dropped one as she didn't take hold of them properly as I passed them over - no thankyou at this point either as conversation still going - oh she did stop mid gas to tell me my change - again no smiles etc. So I made sure I thanked her very loudly and marched out!

Gawd don't you just love them.:o

Anyway bacon, big bags of crisps reduced to 50p,mints for the car(lol)and coffee bought - but I really felt like telling her to stuff them but thought best not.

The thing is the same family buisness has a shop in my village and the kids that work there are lovely!Cheerful & smiles & helpful But this little madam has really spoilt the image of the shop brand for me now.

Sorry rant over - off to update spends.:(

    Contact them and complain!
You never know, you may get money off your next shop, but at the least she will get a reminder of how to treat a customer! Disgraceful behaviour!

  • Not posted on here in a while but im sticking with the budget.... i promise!!

I am now at £94.01 of my £150 budget. Just 2 weekends shops left to do which will be no bother. As long as there arent any deals we 'cant live without!'

Talking of deals though, I spent £10.13 between sains and morr last night and got the following

    Bag of Salad 39p
    Bananas 36p
    stir fry veg 35p
    courgettes*7 78p
large extra lean beef joint (5 portions) £1.70
    4 chicken legs 89p
    2.3kg silverside £3.50!!!
    Bag of Lemons £1
    600ml double cream 19p
    chilli houmous 19p
    soy sauce 69p
cranberry and pumkin seed bread 9p

Officially the best bargain haul i have ever had! :T Especially the beef. We just cant afford to have meat like that when its full price. And the bread which was from Morrisons is AMAZING! I took it into work today for everyone to share and everyone loved it. Prob just a seasonal thing though i suppose :(
