Hi everyone, hope everyone well
2 small spends to report, £9.00 in co op for yet more half fat cheese thats on offer, seems to be on offer everywhere at the minute but was passing the co op so popped in, and a £5.15 spend in Sainsbugs, bought bread for pack ups, various cleaning bits thats on offer and and some fruit and veg, shouldnt need anything else for dinners til the end of the week and got plenty of pack up bits as well.
Thanks to the poster who posted the Nigella recipe for the lemon tart, I remember years ago my older brother used to make lemon cheesecake this way and it lovely, really easy, exactly the same ingredients but he never used an actual recipe, he used to make a cheesecake base with melted butter and digestives and then an equal quantity of lemon curd and cream cheese blended together, yum yum xMarch 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
I did a fairly big shop today.
one of our local supermarkets was doing a big BOGOF thing and I took advantage of some of that. Coffee, butter, cold meats, and cheese.
So I had a quick count and I had 42 items and paid 54.60 (euro) in total. And this included dog food (which is 7 euro a bag) So I'm really quite chuffed. I walked throught the shop with calculator in hand.. lol! and I predicted the end price perfectly.
All is put away now, and no need for more shopping for days now. Payday is friday.. and then a new month starts for me. Better get figuring on the budget. ;-)0 -
Have often lurked on this thread but have decided to take on the challenge this year. Have decided to aim for a weekly spend of £85 which I know sounds like a lot but this time last year I was spending about £120 a week . That will be a total alllowance of £340 for the month for me.
Weekly shop was £80.20 which includes a 3 for £10 on heat protect spray for DD.
Have also joined the Don't throw food away challenge, they are very inventive with their leftovers.
Mrs VPI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Hi all, glad everyone's posting their bargains, it's encouraging me to look for them too.
Changed from my usual one stop massive shop at Mr T again this week to several places to get the offers.
First timer at Aldi's, really surprised, got lots of things to try (better than Lidl last week who's range is much smaller) Not very much on shelves though so maybe 5 o clock friday not the best time to go! Spent £38. Continued down road to Mr T and got the things Aldi didn't have. Bought the value basics toilet Roll £1.31 for 4, why not! have removed wrapper before family notices they haven't got a dog on the packet. Stocked up on stuff for breadmaker but bought own brand instead of Branded flour ,spent another £30 all in.
Today went to Wi**o and bought two sprayers, one to mix stardrops and one for vinegar to clean windows, shampoo on BOGOF and co-op for teabags. Have to stick with branded here as we love our tea. We do use 1 bag for 2 cups though and only buy when on offer so not worth switching to cheaper ones, have tried but didn't likey.
So total spend after two weeks is £123, this would usually be around £180 so very very happy. Not bought any meat yet though, usually go to butchers once every 3-4 weeks and spend about £30, still lots in freezer though so can may be hold off till next month fingers crossed
And how are people getting whoopsies soooo cheap!!! our Sm's around here are dead stingy with reductions!Working hard to to pay off the mortgage within 5 years instead of 9 by considering every penny spent. Aiming to go part time the and enjoy a simple life with simple pleasures!0 -

I just look out for a good deal on a brand I like (the Koala ones) as I'm coming towards the end of my supplies, and then do a ma-hooo-sive stock up. In Nov 2010 I got enough to keep me going into this year (just about on the last roll now), and in Oct of last year I topped up my supplies to take me into 2013Cheryl0 -
luvabargain...I get mine really cheap going approx 1 hour before the supermarket closes...however there was only 1 manky melon and a limp bag of lettuce there last night so didn't buy anything.
went to Mr T's this morning and have now spent over my budget for the month. i would say that this is because I have been simultaneously trying to save money and lose weight at the same time...I really needed to buy more meat, chicken and fish as I really need to have a decent amount of protein each day rather than filing up on carbs...
despite this failure i was pleased with my shop as i got some good whoopsies and in my opinion an absolute bargain when I bought a 1 kg whole side of a salmon. i have just finished cutting it up and managed to make 9 decent sized portions out of it! considering they were selling 2 pieces for £4 in the shop, i reckon it was a pretty good buy and nice and healthy for my wedding diet too!Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
My savings: £4878.54/£7000
Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)0 -
Finally got a brand match coupon in Mr S today - the grand sum of 13 pence :rotfl: Oh well, every little helps
Have not yet meal planned properly and today's shop a mismatch of buying bits I wanted and finding stuff to buy (offers that appealed). Intend to meal plan properly tomorrow.
Don't want to find grocery spending going awry this month. Want to get the year off to a good start.0 -
I popped to Mr T as predicted to get the kitchen roll offer. I picked up the last pack
. I was hoping to get a few more for stocking up. I also picked up freezer bags and value pancakes. Total spend £5.67.
I have asked my mum to pick me up a few more kitchen roll packs if she is at her local T.

Back from my biggie shop (was going to go last night but felt poorly again)....
Stuck to my list (more or less) and used up lots of coupons :j. Total before was £90.54, managed to get it down to £69.45 :T. :T That's including some bits and bobs for my stockpile so I'm very happy with that
.
Some of my coupons run out at the end of January so I'm making use of them before they do. Hopefully it won't put me over budget this month - saves me lots in the long-run though so I'm not going to beat myself up over it if I go a few £££s over.Save £12K challenge 2015 # 173£0.00/£10,0000
