Technically a NSD for me but kids have school dinners on a Friday so I needed £4, went to get their purses out the basket and found £3 from before Christmas in DD1's purse (£2 school dinner money never taken and no I dont feel bad, at least twice they have sent a child home before lunch when their dinner money was paid and lunch not received - and £1 for non uniform donation that she obv never handed in).
Upshot is their school dinners for tomorrow cost me £1. But I didnt actually spend IN A SHOP :T

Stuck to the meal plan and we had salmon, new potatoes and mixed veg for tea.
And I made up some random veg soup to use up the cabbage and celery - 1 head of celery (dated Oct lol), couple handfuls spring greens, 1/2 onion, 1 very old leek, a carrot, a potato and a load of stock. Oh and the big chunky stalky thing from the head of broccoli we had for tea. Made 5 portions, 4 for the freezer and one for lunch.

Im just watching Teenage Tourettes Camp, its very moving, my 8 year old son has Tourettes so its quite close to home.

  • Hey all :D

Had a NSD yesterday and a £3.47 spend today in Mr T as I nipped out to get some more sandwich fillings for OH's lunches. We made sure to go an hour before closing and I got some fabby bargains.
First, I got 3 x 6 packs of white rolls 10p each and pack of 4 big wholemeal baps for 10p which will be perfect for OH's lunches as he takes three rolls every day - they've gone straight in the freezer, I managed to make room.
Also got a Warburtons loaf for 10p, some posh cheddar for 5p, a fresh mushroom pasta sauce 5p, 5 ring donuts 10p and my fave buy, an 8 pack of Actimel for 5p!!! Out of date in 3 weeks but reduced because the box was a little bit damaged so two of the bottles were loose. We have one every morning so this was a result :D Then we bought some bits we needed that weren't reduced but all of that for under a pound! Very pleased :)

No trip to the bargain section tonight as I was at netball. So no spend day on groceries. Thinking of treating myself to a chip with kebab sauce tomorrow night for dinner despite having enough food in for at least 4 dinners. It will cost £2.70 which still leaves £3.98 spends til Wednesday when I get my next £7.00 but then bang goes the diet if I do that. Dilemma!

The SC Sweet Gammon (GF, DF) was very well recieved by one and all, so I am happy.

I covered the base of the SC with soft brown sugar, placed the joint on top and then covered the top of the gammon with sugar. Turned it on low for the day. A couple of times during cooking I quickly basted it with the liquid.

The only thing was the joint was so well cooked it shreded rather than sliced so I won't be able to use it for sandwiches and will have to use it up in meals.

For those that say they have stuff in the freezer that isn't labeled and they don't know what it is, get yourself a Sharpie pen and keep in on the top of your freezer or in the cutlery drawer. Then it is always at hand and you can write onto your containers what you have in them and it will wash off when you want it to.

Spent the whole evening at hospital (visiting a relative who's been given 24 hours :(). So had to get cash out of the hospital ATM, £1.85 surcharge, cos the canteen didn't accept cards. So £10 on two horrible plates of slop. But do you know what, I'm not counting it.

I think you're entirely justified in not counting that. Lots of love to you and your family xxx

Just sandwich ham (£3, gulp), whoopsied new pots (£1) and hummus (50p) in m&$ to add on today. Am dismayed at how i think I have everything I need then almost every day, something else becomes 'necessary' for whatever food I've planned, or at the very least bread and milk.:o. Still, better than not trying, and have managed 2 wine-free days which is good for me and my liver!
To those fighting the cigs - it will get easier but the cancer sticks fight back by making it harder for a while, one day at a time and you will crack it, like many others on here have, and we'd all like to encourage you to do it too!:T
  • Ate at mothers house. Spent no money on groceries today.

Brassic, so sorry about your family member only being given 24 hours to live.
