Texting to phone contacts

Hi, odd question, but is there anyway on a Samsung Galaxy S2 to take email addresses out of the contact list when adding multiple recipients to a text message? I've just sent what I thought was a text to 8 people and because one recipient was an email address (no way of telling this when adding) the whole message became an MMS and I was charged 8 x 25p

You can use the display number only funtion under contact list options, but as for selecting them during a sms compose only avoding the "other" contacts would prevent this.
