I have sent off my 3rd renewal form and am fully expecting a call for a medical (had 2 already)even though i have been medically retired through ATOS,I was wondering how many of us are having medicals or being left alone,if you'd like to add your details regarding being called for medicals or being left alone then feel free,I'm just interested in the ratio, thanks.

Being 'medically retired through ATOS' means almost nothing.
It will depend totally on your condition, and the evidence they have as to if you pass the various tests, if you are called for a medical.
Also - legislation changes - for example, someone who had been entitled to ESA due to being in a wheelchair - may not be after March the 28th last year.
Peoples experience will vary dramatically.
I suggest if you're really interested in proper statistics, you submit a freedom of information request asking the above question.

It means i received the high rate ill health pension which is awarded when there is no chance of working again,it means i have tried redeployment, tried for years to keep my job, tried the only medication available to slow my condition down as there is no cure and it failed.I take 26 pills daily including 180 mgs of morphine and my health will deteriorate with a degenerative and dibillitating illness and my internal organs will fail,as will my eyesight.0 -
OP, I think what Rogerblack means is that being retired through ill health is irrelevant to your claim for ESA and how it is dealt with.
Although Atos is/was involved in both, they use different criteria.
Bizarrely there have been numerous cases of people being found unfit for work by ATOS, losing their jobs, then being found fit for work by ATOS when they apply for ESA.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I know people have different health issues,i just wondered how many was being called for repeat medicals.0

It depends on the condition.
Different conditions will have different call-back rates.
In addition, it depends on the evidence each has, and the assessor that reads that evidence.
The average rate is going to be very misleading for most conditions.
For example, someone who is documented as being a paraplegic, aren't going to get called to a medical nearly as often as someone who has a condition that is likely to improve in the short term.0 -
Everyone will be called for a repeat WCA.
So its a bit of a nonsense question.0 -

Umm - no.
Everyone has their work capability assessed, however, in some cases, this is merely a paper exercise.
Everyone is _not_ called for a medical every time their case is reviewed - simply as medical services (ATOS) may recommend that there is no need to, or the decisionmaker may decide that the available evidence is enough to confirm they still have limited capability for work.
Similarly, some people are treated as having limited capacity for work - due to - for example - recieving regular dialysis for kidney failure.

I was originally awarded ESA back in January this year & recently received my ESA50 to fill in. I filled the form in with as much detail as i can..... & left barely any spaces blank (in the relevant questions of course). I sent this away with a letter from my OCD therapist as well as a copy of the numerous doctors visit cards i have collected just to prove that i have had medical advice.....as well as a copy of my recent prescriptions. I was re-awarded ESA without having to go for a medical & my next renewal is Sept12. I am on ESA for OCD and depression & am in Sunderland if this is relevant.0
