Sky connect for £5 instead of £17.99

i joined sky broadband in december and as the full package isn't available in my area could only choose connect for £17.99
if you enter your number here

http://check.skybroadband.com/Default.aspx

it'll tell you if you can have it for £5

phone using the freephone sky number 0800 0512595 and ask them to change you to £5. they may tell you it's for new customers only, if they won't budge, hang up and call later. the second guy i got through to changed it straight away, the first one wasn't having any of it!

anyone know the no to join sky BB?
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
  • I've read this on the skyuser forum. It's worth everyone on connect paying the £17.99 to check the availability using the link above because if your telephone exchange is being updated in the next 6 months the £5 offer will apply to you. As the OP said; call sky and ask to be changed over...they will have to change it once the exchange is upgraded anyway!

On a down side...my line went live last Friday with the £5 connect offer but I've still to recieve my router from sky. Because the router is pre-programmed with my details and you can't use your own router I don't have broadband until their router arrives.

I've just had my first 3 months for £12, primarily due to them not sending my router in time. Same as yours, line went active but the router didn't arrive. I complained, winged, whined, etc, and eventually they gave me half a months credit (on connect). They said to wait a couple of days and it should arrive. It didn't so rang again and it turned out that they'd "forgotten" to order me one, so I complained again and they credited me with the other half of the month and I got the router the next day. The next month the credit wasn't on the bill, so I complained again, and they put it through, plus another £5 because I complained about having to ring an expensive number. It then turned out that they had actually put the credits on the first time, just took a while to go on, so I got credited with £8.50+£8.50+£17+£5!!

Yesterday I rang to complain because my exchange had been enabled in November but I haven't been transferred over yet, and they reduced me down to £5 a month for 6 months. Use the freephone number 0800 0512 595 and get through to broadband customer support - the guy I spoke to was Stuart.

    HTH. ;)

Can I just ask the people who have signed up for the £5 sky, did the checker on the sky website say your area was available for this offer?

    Thanks

This is what I got, though I'm not signing up to them:
Fast download speeds and a massive usage allowance can now be yours with Sky Broadband Connect. Normally it would cost you £17 per month. But Connect is available in your area right now for just £5 per month – plus a one-off broadband activation fee of £20.

    cheers QQ.

Anybody know how I can check when my exchange is going to be updated please?

My current 12 month broadband is up in a couple of weeks and I don't want to take out another contract if I can get sky for a fiver in the near future.

    Cheers
