Hi and welcome to the boards, the great people here provide great advice

My OH works very long shifts and we are like ships passing in the night. I do everything in the house as well as work. Once you get into a routine it's easy to stick to, but as other's have said don't overwhelm yourself.
I clean a few rooms after work every day, that way I keep on top of clutter, dirt etc.
I have 3 laundry baskets now thanks to a tip on here. One for whites, one for blacks and one colours. I do a load every morning and every night and iron as soon as its dry.
Cupboards are tidied once every two weeks and junk either freecycled or given to charity. If it can't be used it's taken to the tip.
The Flylady thread is great on here. I copy pasted the jobs that were relevant to my home and added them to my rota. You get so much satisfaction crossing the off as they are done
Never look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....0 -
Evening all
a little later tahn i thought but here i am. Haven't managed to do much more today
-tidied the kitchen
-put the bins out
-done another washing load
-made some jacket potatoes and salad for tea
-watched jim'll fix it
-put board games away
-hubby kept the sette warm for me lol (he's not too bad)
thanks so much for all your support and advice i am going to go through again and write some things down. I have a slow cooker but only ever seem to cook sausage cassarole in it could anyone point me in the direction of healthy slow cooker recipes (do you think they'll have them at the library?) To all who are saying take it slow thank you, i can totally see what you mean. I am wanting to get the house organised fast because i know this sound really selfish but next year i want to focus on me. I have really let myself go for the past 7 years and i look dreadful for it, i have managed to come off my anti depressants by changing the way that i think, focusing on what i want to be not what i am which i really hate. If i can just get the house done before new years eve i can can focus on me from day 1 and by day 365 i hopefully will have found myself again xx i really appreciate all of you helping me its wonderful.
Now hubby is working from 11-7 tommorrow so i will have one less messy person to contend with so off to jot my wednesday list here i go xx0 -

I have same problems
always losing things
nothing stays tidy
have dirty laundry piles
clean laundry mountains
rarly iron.
Problem is we need least one more wardrobe and 2sets draws.
we only have one open plan/lounge diner nightmare to keep tidy as we eat and live in that room.
My girls bring stuff down and dont take back.
I have nappies and baby toys.
I have 3kids age 5 in primary age 2 does nursery once a week and a 8month old.
My girls share a room which seems impossible to keep tidy.
I tried boxes and draws for specific things but they never keep to my systems.
I have full shed, fairly full loft and cupboard of doom under stairs is embarressing!
My bathroom also very small
babys rooms a box room.
kitchens huge problem as not enough cupboards and too many appliances.
we rent so cant replace or redesign better.
I do need a solution but all costs flipping money.which we dont have spare.
feel dont spend as much time on myself as would like as so busy looking after everyone else!
Hubby works long hours if he gets home at teatime its bedlem and he gets stressed.
if hes on late downstairs is tidy and his dinner on table hes calm.
house only thing we row about.
I am a great cook, im good at planning meals and doing the shopping:D
washing and ironing struggle to keep up with
its only thing me and hubby row about
its mostly clutter of toys/clothes
house not so much dirty would like to deepclean kitchen and bathroom least once a week.
I could dust more
regret gkass tv table and detest my patio doors for prints.
I do hoover downstairs daily.
My mams really insulting about my house and makes me feel like crap.
I really do want a lovley uncluttered home just feels out of reach.
You inspired me to make a start tommorow.
so much want to achieve in 2012 and feel like house is holding me back and causing us all stress.
we cant afford to move so need to make most of what we have.

Problem is we need least one more wardrobe and 2sets draws.----could cardboard boxes substitute for the time being?
we only have one open plan/lounge diner nightmare to keep tidy as we eat and live in that room.
maybe some simple meals a few times a week will reduce the labour eg soup and wholemeal bread? easy to amke and easy to clear away, just 1 bowl each.
My girls bring stuff down and dont take back.
I have nappies and baby toys.
could some be put away? I used a rotation of toys when mine were little. the toys not in use this week can be under the bed in a cardboard box, ditto the spare nappies.

they are only little, maybe a bit less stuff to sort through? could you put some of it away or freecycle it?
I have full shed, fairly full loft and cupboard of doom under stairs is embarressing!
LOL not to worry, try sorting 15 mins a day only!
My bathroom also very small
so's mine but it means less stuff to be able to hoard.
babys rooms a box room.
kitchens huge problem as not enough cupboards and too many appliances.---same here, again cardboard boxes, I have them under the table with stuff in them.
we rent so cant replace or redesign better.

cardboard boxes!
feel dont spend as much time on myself as would like as so busy looking after everyone else!
we mums need to factor it into the schedule.
Hubby works long hours if he gets home at teatime its bedlem and he gets stressed.
thats the reality of small children,if you know its a day when he will be home at tea time could you feed them a bit early with breakfast cereal and a glass of milk? easy to clear away and no cooking involved.
if hes on late downstairs is tidy and his dinner on table hes calm.
house only thing we row about.
could he help you tidy up a bit?

you sound like you are already doing a lot THB.
My mams really insulting about my house and makes me feel like crap.
this is totally unfair. I had a couple of relatives do this, needless to say they did not have small children.
I really do want a lovley uncluttered home just feels out of reach.
unrealistic ambition at this time in your life,it comes later. This is real life, not a tv commercial.

Some suggestions, take care and allow yourself some chill time. xxx0 -
One thing I do, not sure if it'l help, is bring the hangers down for clothes when I'm ironing, so after ironing they go straight onto a hanger and makes it easier and less time consuming to hang them up. Also means I don't just bung the clothes I've just ironed in a pile somewhere
as has been known in the past. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
gailey we are soul best mates lol we ar so in sink its ridic and not the kitchen sink i may add:rotfl:
your mum i have been there and have the t shirt and hat don't let them put you down tell her if she's that bothered she should be helping
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
glass tv cabinet i already know is a deffo no no i had one sold it to my cousin for £20 and bought a solid wood one that will last till i die from ebay for £15 yay.
you can do it, if i can an i have to say i'm very messy and lazy you can (actually it's not lazy it's i have had enough leave me alone. please join me in my battle against life and lets make 2012 our year everyone . cheers (ching) who's with me.
oooo i'd be good at a rally
and remember it's because we are worth it girls xx0 -

Thanks hun the tv table always looks dirty.
used to be organised when I worked find being sahm mum much harder.
my time management is rubbish.
i sort of give up in day and think will run round like mad person when kids in bed.
mornings get so stressed and frequently late for school then have to sign in through front with reason like sibling hid her sisters shoes!
If I havent gad time to iron shirt I put her in a pinafore so cant see the creases.
somedays I leave kids downstairs to their own devices and tidy upstairs
come down its a mess send them up to their room which just tidied.
thyen tidy lounge go back up and they messed their room up again and mine!
They like to bounce on bed and watch tv in my room,
They so clumsy with drinks
toddler keeps chucking stuff down toiliet, drawn on walls and flooded my bathroom last week!
Most of time feel stressed and powerless.
If my mums comes over i clean before hand but never good enough she ends up cleaning, getting stressed and arguing with me.
On hubbys day off he gets frustrated as feels like they mess stuff up
he hates clutter.
Right now its the xmas conundrum where to put all the xmas toys?
triued splitting different types of items into diffrerent draw,s
just buy plain socks white and dark all the same.
I usec loth napies for baby which creates more washing.
hes messy and gets through 3outfits a day
my toddler attracts dirt too
im forever washing the girls bedding.
replaced carpet with wood laminate which gets surprisingly dirty.
feel like never have any me time I dont stop go mad when hubby says im lazy.
cant remember last full nights sleep I had.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
