Some supervisors are all talk no action, they love the feeling of power that comes with wearing a different colour high viz, or feeling they are better than you because they have the power of discpline over you, i have lost count the number of times so called supervisors have told people to work faster, get higher KPIs, but when they are asked to show practically how to do the Job faster, they refuse to do it, because they are unable to go faster, hypcorites!!!!!!!
Never believe a Company when they say something along the lines of " there is a training course coming soon, i hope you guys appreciate what we are doing for you" the course is definetly Goverment funded!!!!!
For all you guys doing Agency Work, never take anything for granted, i have seen Managers having a laugh and joke with different Agency Workers, telling them what Jobs they need doing for tommorow, and how much they value their work, yet when the very same Agency worker clocks of and is on his way Home, he receives a text " i am sorry there is no more work for you at xxxxxx" Spineless !!!!!!!s0

Some good points being made here and a great idea for a thread.
I'll admit to being a lot more cynical about the workplace than I used to be.
Loyalty and hard work stands for nothing when it comes time for the axe to fall (personal experience ). A lot of bosses will only look at the bottom line and not the work done by the employee.
The point made above about having savings as back up just in case is very important. I'm getting deeper and deeper into debt while working a temp job on low wages while looking for a "proper job" and getting a safety net is the first thing I want to do before I start to pay off those debts. (I know I should pay the debts off first but I want to feel a little safer after this experience).
Colleagues are just that, I thought I had friends in my last job but when I was made redundant I found that wasn't true. Calls and messages were ignored.
Learn to bite your lip and think before you make that much needed outburst.
Grab any training offered, it'll look good on your cv when you find it time to move on.
I'm sure there are more and i'll follow this thread with interest.0

90% of people steal, that includes managers, supervisors, people who have the most opportunity steal are generally the 1s who steal, its a bit rich to have a big talk by managers on theft, when lets be honest they are the people who are likely to be doing it!!!0

90% DO NOT steal, but there is always one and I worked with one who was the supervisor and whilst others did her work (and the management thought she was doing it) she was working out ways to commit fraud on the company.90% of people steal, that includes managers, supervisors, people who have the most opportunity steal are generally the 1s who steal, its a bit rich to have a big talk by managers on theft, when lets be honest they are the people who are likely to be doing it!!!
The company was so shocked when they found out for sure it was her and I believe they thought it was one of the staff but she made some very bad slip ups thinking the money would never be missed.0

Last 1 from me, never attend work xmas parties, i have never understood how people can go to such parties even though your colleagues who you dont like are attending, your Supervisor who is an idiot is attending, people who will galdly stab you in the back at work are attending, why is socialising with these people at work a good thing, its just fake behaviour.0

What I learnt many years ago was to keep your mouth closed about your personal life only revealing lighthearted stuff, stuff you dont mind being broadcasted around the office, other stuff keep stum.SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)
