I might have stepped in but now you'd just get down for assault so would now just walk away really (while phoning the police)0

My son was set upon by a gang of about 15 - 20 lads, they beat and kicked him and tried to get him into the canal. He was screaming for help and people just walked past until a girl who knew the lads managed to drag him away. They got him another couple of times but she somehow managed to help him stagger to her house, if she hadn't been there he would very likely be dead.
The girl who helped my son was very brave and I am eternally grateful to her, shame they only caught 5 of them and all they got was 3 months youth detention but that's another story.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
People are too scared to step in, because the law isn't on their side.
You step in, somebody else phones the police, the police turn up and somebody accuses you of assault. The country is going downhill because people can no longer do the right thing against thugs; and no, phoning the police and letting them deal with it isn't the right thing. By the time they arrive the fight is over and everybody has gone.0 -

texranger that really sucks!!! it rubbish that the actual thugs can do what they want and the innocent good people suffer. I know charges were dropped but that would be an immense amount of worry. If it was me I probably wouldnt be allowed to work.
dibuzz, that is scary stuff. I have to say you or your son were very lucky she was about. I hate to think what could have happened.0 -
It seems the only thing people do nowadays is record the action on there phones and then load it up on the web.0

yes it was a lot of worry, being self employed and if the CCTV did not appear i could of faced a custodial sentance which would have meant my business folding and as a webhost this would of effected many people/businesses who host with me.
also i have shop and if i had a guard dog and the dog bit anyone breaking in then i woukld be charged0 -
