Wild boars scrummy, Ostrich is like beef I think, very rich flavour. Have you tried farmers markets for those ?

Fruit and veg wise, not a lot I haven't tried, never eaten an avacado before

I did have to go to Lidl today as needed Passatta, tinned tomatoes and sweetcorn which I use a lot of, got some other tins too, I refuse to pay 79p for a tin of tomatoes that the local shop owner buys in there anyway, same with the others, triple the price, defeats the object!
One day I might be more organised...........

ummm I was thinking about what the next step should be too.

I haven't been anywhere new to shop for last week or so due to work work work so feeling a bit under motivated.

I enjoyed the tomato ketchup making so I was thinking of a make it yourself thing - trying to make it one new thing a week myself instead of buying it.

Now this may seem rash for a first attempt but has anyone ever made pork pies? Or crisps? Can you make crisps without a deep fat fryer and how do you keep them fresh? I once saw them being made with ?Aunty Mabel? on come outside when DD's were little - yum yum (not!!!)

Oh I'm getting on a roll here - apple & mint jelly:drool: need to find a recipe for that one

And just in case - does anyone out there have the recipe for Robinsons Orange Hi-Juice??????:D

    I've been Money Tipped!
Love this idea! :T Basically if we can't source the products away from mr T's etc see if we can produce it ourselves? Last week I started to sprout afalfa in a seed sprouter. Worked really well! I can get the seeds at my local garden centre, health food shop or market stall.

Love the idea of home made tortilla chips! My Mum used to make baked beans from scratch but sadly in those days I childishly decided I preferred Heinz, possibly something to do with all the sugar in them!;) I will have to try making them.

We had to do a small shop again but in the co-op for the goods I can't get elsewhere such as low fat cheese, low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt. Yes I am on a diet plan at the moment:rolleyes: Mostly though we are getting by on what is in the cupboards, freezers, organic box delivery and only buying from local market.

I discovered the foreign food shop (Turkish I think) sells big bags of dried herbs for 99p or 2 for £1.50. So I have a years supply of Basil and Parsley and know where to go for the rest!! They also do large bags of nuts, raisins, chickpeas, couscous, kidney beans, and loads and loads of other dried stuff that I don't think I've even seen before!!! :D

Making sour cherry muffins this weekend - shame no-one else likes them!! :rotfl:

In ourSlimming World we used to make crisps - get a crisp maker from Betterware, cut potatoes thinly, soak to rid of starch then stand in the crisp maker and microwave. Cover with seasonings to give flavour if you fancy. They lasted a day or so in a air tight container!

That Gillian McWhatsit says thinly slice pour a small amount of olive oil over and then bake in the oven. Can use Parsnips, carrots, beetroot, sweet potato etc.

Could be the next Richard Branson you have there! :):)

If he is buying 100 bars a week (20 per day) could he not get them wholesale or source a cheaper supplier? Maybe he could even get them direct from the manufacturer as he is selling over 400 bars a month? Or go old style and make something (chocolate biscuits, muffins) and sell those? Might be a bit tricky with environmental health rules and such now but there has always been this idea of kids making homemade lemonade and selling it.....
