You might be able to order Yeo Valley stuff through an organic delivery scheme. Or try a health food shop ;)

I'll try both of those; i have quite a few farm shops around me that i haven't tried yet either, so i'll see if any of them stock the yoghurt, otherwise it will have to be Co-op, which isn't as bad as the others i suppose:confused:

Have really enjoyed this challenge; can't believe it is up in a couple of days.

This made me laugh. I went to town on Saturday and was caught short - the only place I could think of to go was Ts - I did feel a bit of a traitor!
I had to use Sainsburys' toilet the other day and felt like a traitor too :p

The couple of farm shops around me have pick and weigh frozen berries (and yorkie puds, roast pots and other veggies!!!) Def the way to go!

You can break your lenten 'fast' on Sunday's;)
(runs away quick now I've put temptation in your grasp:A )
Quite true. Of course it would defeat the object of giving up supermarkets if you legitimately broke your Lenten fast each Sunday by waiting until Sunday and then doing a bloody great weekly shop in Tesco's :D :rotfl:

However I will permit myself to break the fast on Sundays for "odds and ends" - for example, the other week (4th March) I overslept and didn't have time for breakfast before heading off to church choir practice... the choice was Pret a Manger (choc croissant £1, muffin £1.30), Starbucks (pricier), MacDonalds (yuck)... OR Sainsburys Central (maple & pecan pastry 55p). Given that the choice was between four evil corporations, I went with the one that was by far the cheapest!

Skint_Cat my farm shop is the same, my mum thought I was slumming it doing this challenge until she came to visit and we went there :D . Noticed this thread is slowing down a bit, dont think it is loosing its appeal looking at the number of visits, just that everybody has found there local suppliers and not needing to ask as many questions.

    Roll on market day :j
2013 the year to be more organised :p

I noticed that too. We need something new and worthwhile to write about. Maybe a weekly update about how many times we did go into supermarkets and then try to get that number down.
    Any other (and better) suggestions?

    Good idea!
How about posting what you got from the supermarkets (unless really personal!) to see if someone can come up with an alternative-product and/or supplier

I'm cooking Sat and Sun dinner this week (usually I'm at boyfs and can't get near the cooker during the week) and will try 110% not to go near a supermarket (which hopefully will be quite easy as I work in City Centre and only two small supermarkets, but plenty of butchers, greengrocers et al!!)

good idea....:T ..... to keep motivation.... going etc.....

also i think i will try what mr sainsbury's says..'try something new today'

but my twist on it will be try something new from an independant.....

a few years ago i can remember a big hype that mr s. was selling ostrich.... etc......so i am thinking in trying something like that......now my butcher only does the normal stuff.... doesnt even do mutton....which i wanted to try..... sooooo i will have to order it on line.....

i still havent got the venison or wild boar sausages yet...so that will be my new twist to the challenge.....

and then maybe new fruit and veg which we have never tasted before.....

    what do you think peeps......

Very good idea! It might make us think even more before going to the supermarket.
Like, I need to get some green tea, baked beans and milk tomorrow and, as I'm going past Lidl's, thought, I could quickly sneak in, but of course, I then would have to post it here and you lot would tell me that soandso sells those things too.......ok, won't go to Lidl's ;)
