I haven't been in tesco for a few weeks now and I really don't miss it. I'm still using netto/lidl at the moment, but most meat is from the butcher and a lot of veg and eggs are farm shopped, so I'm getting there! Every little helps!0

Is your OH going to the Cardiff Makro? I was wondering if they do cheap white vinegar there - I go to swansea and they only do sarsons and it doesn't work out cheaper than buying smaller bottles. I may be able to hitch a lift to cardiff makros in the week if it's worth going.0 -
For a view from the small producer/farmer side of the fence there is a blog post comment by a small producer (Jan from Northfield Farm) here:
<" Supermarkets & Other Evils
If you are a small food producer and retailer, supermarkets in general represent the devil, and the biggest devil of all is perceived to be Tesco. One exception to this sweeping characterisation must be Waitrose which is generally perceived by the likes of me to be a cut above the others in terms of its apparent genuine care for quality and those responsible for producing quality. There was a time when M&S & Sainsbury might have been viewed in a similar way. Maybe just maybe, they will be viewed in a better light if they continue to rebuild their emphasis on that magic element of QUALITY.">

edit: sorry, i forgot it's the entry dated 01 Feb 2007."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I started this challenge yesterday, as i got back from holiday on friday.
I spent the same ammount of money in the high street, but i got better quality goods and i enjoyed talking to all the shopkeepers.
Will deffo do it again, the only drawback was 2 kids moaning along the way.0 -

Hi CTC
Sunny Pembrokeshire! Splat between Tenby and Pembroke - seems funny that I haven't mentioned town names because it didn't seem relevant but the town I used to work in is Narberth and between when I was working there approx 11 years ago and now they have turned it from death valley into a thriving high street. I saw them mentioned as an example "what did they do that we can copy" article and I felt like screaming "well they didn't give in they got off their backsides and started fighting" and there's me going to tescos:o
OH is dropping some stuff off for work round Newport way - he's got a trailer so can't join me but has offered to drop me off and pick me up. I haven't been to Cardiff Makros for years so quite fancied it (if only to try out the escalators with the trolley again!)
But you live in the Swansea Valley and can't get milk??!! I bet Gren would have drawn you a couple of sheep delivering the daily pint!:D0 -
For the pet lovers among us i have talked to a local wood shop who will now provide my rabbits shavings for free. :T
I shred our paper which also provides them with bedding.
On visiting the market I got a whole bag full of greens for the rabbits for free and the butcher sells huge bags of bones for the dogs for a chariety donation of 20p. :j2013 the year to be more organised0
