Advice please....My car will not start

I bet it needs a new battery. If the place where you took the car didn't do a drop test on the battery i would take the car to someone thats knows what they are doing.
I took the car to a well known local tyre/battery garage (where I purchased the battery) in my town. They plugged it into a machine and printed out this.....
The battery was 1 year and 3 days old at this point.
I then went to my usual garage....who said I needed a new alternator.
Edit....sorry about the size of the pic!Slimming world new starter 2/1/17

I will ask them on Wed morning. Do you happen to know what they did to get this print out?
As you can tell, I am totally clueless

I suspect when you tried to jump start it you used cheap jump leads maybe? cheap jump leads are worse than useless. That was a drop test on your battery that was done already and it looks fine. you need to check charging rate and parasitic drain current when sitting still. call out a mobile auto spark as you could waste even more money changing bits that aren't needed and paying for recovery trucks, when a good autospark could have it fixed quickly and easily. youll pay them a slightly higher hourly rate than a garage but its worth it for their years of experience and paying someone who knows what they are doing is cheaper than replacing unnecessary parts.0

Thanks Petrolhead. I am going to try again tomorrow morning with another friend and better jump leads. I will then be dropping it off at the indepentant garage for them to do those tests you suggested.
Just my luck for this to happen this week, and when I need to get up to Cumbria on ThursdaySlimming world new starter 2/1/17

Yippeee...I have managed to start it. I cleaned the terminals with sand paper. It started second go.
I took it out on a hour long drive and it seems ok now.
Thanks all for your advice and suggestions.Slimming world new starter 2/1/17

Clever girl. Now, doesn't that feel like a job well done?
