Download DVDFlick from here
It is free and will create a DVD of your avi file. Not used it myself as I already have other DVD authoring software. Let us all know how you get on.0 -
I use Winavi Video Convertor. It works really well, but it does takes some time to convert and uses a lot of cpu0

DVDflick really good and resonably quick.Used it quite a bit on those problem copies.0

In DVDFlick when you open it, click on New Project then on the right hand side click on add title, select the avi/mpg you want and click OK.
Then you can click on edit title to change any settings for that video clip. Then click on accept.
Then click on project settings and change anything you want there, such as whether you want to create an ISO image to burn later with Nero or to burn it with DVDFlick, then click accept.
Finally click on create DVD and it should do the it.
For your first project experiment with a short clip as video encoding can take ages. Once you know what you're doing you can do longer ones.
I've only just started experimenting with DVDFlick (due to your earlier thread) so I'm not that experienced with it but the above should work. It's my problem, it's my problem

I have an avi file with an extra subtitles file *.SRT, I'd like to burn this to a dvd and watch on my TV, my dvd player can play divx, can I do this using the tools mentioned here ?0

I use Nerovision and find it pretty good. Also has the benefit of switching NTSC to PAL without the annoyance of having to do it manually and synching up the audio. The package must be fairly idiot proof and user friendly if I use it too......Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

If your AVI was encoded using divx if you copy it to a DVD it should play OK on your player. No idea what would happen with the subtitles though. You could download DVDflick though and use that to create a 'proper' DVD. It allows you to add a subtitle file in so that ought to work OK. DVDFlick is free so there's no harm in trying it.It's my problem, it's my problem

the basic jist of converting Avi to DVD is that the software (whicheve you use) needs to convert AVI to Mpeg2. There are numerous programs out there that will do this for you, but be weary of the audio sync, as some software tends to mess the sync out. Just a tip to ensure you check the file before you burn it to a disk:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
