Having lost the plot with my blackberry I decided to take an enormous step backwards and am using a prehistoric samsung not-so-smart flip phone. I tend not to use the phone part (less than 60 minutes a month generally) but do text a fair amount.
I have would love some help choosing please. I am up for renewal shortly and would like to take out a sim only deal as its way cheaper than I have been paying. I live in the sticks so lots of free wifi is not available. I have an ipod touch 3 which I use for quick browsing at home (which I do a lot of tbh) as i find it a bit easier and quicker to use than my netbook.
So, the question is, should I get an iphone 3gs (kind of discounted the 4 as I have 3 small people which might potentially play silly beggers with my phone and the glass screens scare me) or an ipad 3g so that when I am out and about I can bung it in my handbag and take it with me?
I know the ipad is a larger version of the iphone, but I am concerned with the potential of another Iphone coming out this year that my would be horribly obsolete so quickly.
gah!

Well it's pretty much certain that the ipad 3 will be coming out next year, so you may want to hold out for that (or wait until it's released and the ipad 2 will come down in price).0

The iPad can't be used as a conventional phone (Voice and Text) without a lot of hackery, which is a bit flakey to use as a day to day phone.
EDIT: The iPhone 3GS has a glass screen as well, as does the iPod touch. Why not give them that when they want to play a game or something.0 -

I wasnt intending on making calls on the ipad, instead I was just going to use said prehistoric phone as its not the most important thing.
I know what you mean about the glass screen on the ipod/iphone, I think really it was the back being glass which scared me rather a lot tbh0 -
