I've been told Traktor is the best to use. Considering the "Behringer BCD3000 Bcontrol Deejay Machine"
I assume you're a bedroom DJ rather than running a business?
I run a mobile disco business. The laptop I use is never connected to the internet, it's too risky. All you need is the blue screen of death and it's all over, your clients have to wait until you've rebooted and checked everything.
Why don't you just use Media Monkey (https://www.mediamonkey.com) it's more reliable and for a novice will be fine, it has crossover and auto dj. Traktor is for people running a business, not playing in the bedroom!Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
Well I will practice in my bedroom but I wanted it for mates house parties. I always provide the playlists so I thought I might as well learn to properly mix as it's something i've always wanted to do. I have 2xVinyl turntables and a mixer but never had the pre-amp to use them, or the space to put them out.I assume you're a bedroom DJ rather than running a business?

Ha I read about Sasha doing a digital DJ gig and he had a BSOD. The crowd had to wait 10 mins while he sorted it out and rebooted it! I guess that's why a lot of people use Mac's for live gigs.
I have recently installed MediaMonkey for the first time, but only because I wanted a decent ID3 tag editor and it seemed to be pretty highly rated in that respect. I prefer the hands on approach, rather than letting the machines do it for me, but I guess when i've had too many drinks the machines are more reliable :P
Still unsure about a controller, I want an inexpensive one that doesn't feel cheap, and has an internal soundcard. I have 2 headphone outs on my XPS, one is an S/PDIF out and other is just a normal headphone out (plus a mic out). Do you know if I can have deck A going through my speakers, and Deck B going through my headphones? Or do I need 2 soundcards for that (hence the controller with integrated soundcard).<<iguanapunk>>0 -
Ah - the good old days of mixing (pretty badly in my case mind!) on a pair of 1210's at house partiesiguanapunk wrote: »I have 2xVinyl turntables and a mixer but never had the pre-amp to use them, or the space to put them out.
I still have my collection of vinyl - but no turntables. Would love to show my kids one day - the oldest is nearly 8 and doesn't know what vinyl is!!0 -

There really is no need for scratching. The pc does everything.iguanapunk wrote: »Still unsure about a controller, I want an inexpensive one that doesn't feel cheap, and has an internal soundcard. You would actually need a 2 channel external soundcard, a Maya 44 or similar. The good thing with digital crossover is that it does it all for you. You don't really think the pro's actually crossfade/beatmatch do you
.
For an external soundcard I actually use a Trust 5.1 USB Soundcard. The difference in sound between using this and playing directly from the laptop is amazing.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
