mobilepartner.co.uk is it a scam?

Options
Hello people

I've had a text message from number 84243 that says...
FreeMsg: "hi, WHO FANCIES YOU????" REPLY LOVE to 84243!!!! Service Provider mobilepartner.co.uk. Help: 0871 8725370 text stop to 84243. Reg 4*1.50.

I had a look at the web page and it looks legit, but if I google it I get no search results to do with the site.

Does anyone know anything about the site? Is it a scam? I am single at the moment and would love to think its legit but something is making me suspicious. Any advice??

Cheers in advance

Whether it is or not, if you want to meet someone then take up a new interest that is a group activity.. Walking, dancing, theatre, debate society, church - there are loads of better, more mind-expanding and fun things to do than give some website £6 based on some random text that lands in your inbox..

If someone walked up to you in the street and said "Who loves you, give me £6 and I'll tell you" - would even think about it?!
  • Thanks for your replies ;)
Thing is I gave my mates girlfriend my number for a completely innocent reason over the weekend and I can't help but think it could be her. If I had got the text any other time I wouldn't have thought about it!!

If I find out its her I can let my mate know what a dirtbag he is with. I'm going to assume its just a scam and ignore it tho!

    Cheers all

Surely if it had been her, she only needed to txt you to tell you that. Why would anyone insist you go to some £6 service to find them, its hardly a romantic approach.

It could be legit, but it looks like a classic scam txt to me:-

If you join the site they make money from you. If you do nothing, they lose but, a huge % of people will not 'do nothing' They will txt stop to xxxxx and this will cost a lot of money.

They are using a 'sender originated' billing account which means you are probably gonna be charged for the STOP msg @ 1.50 per msg.
