Hey guys,
I have had sky broadband and phone for over 12 months now and Im quite happy with them.
But I have been looking around to see if I can get a better deal and as I have an O2 phone, I can get 6 months free broadband with O2.
The catch is that, O2 will charge me £45 to getting the line transferred across?
Does anyone know if I can call sky and get my monthly bill reduced? If I can then Ill save myself the hassle of switching and paying the initial charge.
Or does anyone know if o2 will waive the £45 charge?
Thanks for your help guys.

Hi,
Yes you should be able to get a better deal out of sky. What plan are you on with them? Sky unlimited?
Just give them a call and make sure you are armed with info regarding what you could get elsewhere (ie from o2)
I think their standard retention deal seems to be to offer 6 months half price or even 6 months free broadband.
I did get a verbal offer of only having to pay the phone line rental and getting the broadband free for 12 months on a 12 month contract but sounds too good to be true and not sure if it'll be honoured.
give them a call and i hope the above provides you with some bargaining info.

Yeah the above is a good idea. ALWAYS call your Service Provider first, before doing anything. And always say you're thinking of leaving so you are offered the best discounts. The amount of people that switch, THEN speak to their SP when the transfer is midway through is a nightmare.
If you call saying you are looking for a better deal you will get caught out by a decent salesperson that will get better commission for lower discounts. Be aware of this.
If o2 are charging you to transfer your services i would tell them to jog on.0 -
I tried to get a better deal out of Sky. At the moment, I've broadband and a phone line. The broadband is unlimited and the line rental also includes free weekend and evening calls. At the moment, I pay £22.25 or £22.50 per month. If I go with O2, I'll pay only £20. I mentioned this to them but they couldn't give me a better offer since I don't have Sky TV (don't even own a TV).0

we are currently with sky for phone, broadband and tv (entertainment plus pack only), and our contract for phone and broadband finishes early feb, called not long back, advising that we were trying to save money (which we are!) and if there were any offers for the phone and broadband and was offered 6 months half price line rental within seconds of the phone call...
advised that i had seen a deal with Tesco (no idea what they are like - aint looked into them yet!), and they are offering same package as i have with sky, and the price for tesco works out at 17.75 for the first 12 months and 23.75 for the last 6 months (18 month contract) comparing that to sky which is costing us 24.75 per month (worked out that we would be just under £100 better off switching to tesco over sky - based on staying with both sky and tesco for 2 years - for easier comparison!).
Gonna discuss with the wife in the morning and see what she thinks..... (already know, she will say do what you want to!! lol).
