Blackberry - unable to connect to server

Hi

When I purchased my BB from O2, they said I wouldn't need to pay the 5.00 to connect to the internet if I was at home as I have wi-fi.

I would only need to pay the 5.00 if I wanted to use the internet outside of a free wi-fi spot.

So Ihave topped up my phone a couple of times and paid the 5.00, plus the top up for calls, 15.00 in total.

So this month I haven't topped my phone up as I have about 20.00 worth of credit. I'm a very low user, and now I can't use the phone to access my e-mails or the internet.

Is the problem because I have not paid the top-up of 15.00 - 10.00 for calls and 5.00 to blackberry? Or is there some other problem

Also does anyone know of a better deal. I don't mind paying 5.00 a month for the internet, but I don't want to have to top up for calls if I'm not using them. I hope this makes sense.
I forgot to add, I can connect to FB from home and receive updates, so I don't understand why the browser and e-mail won't work.

You need to play the £5 for the Blackberry add on each month to keep BB service running.

You don't need BB services to access the internet but you do need to go into the settings and alter the internet connectivity to use TCP/IP.

If the O2 top ups are time limited - i.e they only last for 30 days, then if you don't use them you lose them and that includes internet access over the O2 network. It will work with wifi but only if you've been into the phone settings and set the wifi up. It doesn't just magically know how to do it or that it should use it if you've not set it up.

Thank you for posting this, but how do I do this? I can't find settings. I have the wifi at the top of my phone that relates to my home broadband. I'm not very good with IT sorry to be so thick.

Are you on the £15 BlackBerry Text and Web plan?

If you want to keep your BIS, you can just pay the £5 from your existing credit to buy the BIS Bolt On from your existing credit. No need to top up again right now.
But you won't have any free data and some things won't work without data. You can buy 100MB for £3. BIS isn't just about 'connecting to the Internet'. If you don't use the BIS then why did you get a BlackBerry?
So I'm assuming that you want to use it, but perhaps to use it without having to purchase an extra data package. But your problem is probably that you don't know that you need to pay that £5 to keep the BIS working at all or to top up £15 to get the full BlackBerry text and Web package. The Bolt On gives you access, but you still have to pay for data usage one way or another.

Just go to your online account and choose the packages that you want from there.

Alternatively, you can unlock your BB for free and use the free T-Mobile Blackberry SIM that gives you six months of unlimited usage for free(after a single £10 top up).
