Anglian Water taking money through Income support?

Options
Hello everyone, merry xmas to you all, and typically as is with days when you cannot contact someone, a letter drops through the door bringing bad news...
I pay Anglian water £45 per month for there services, we have an arrears of approx £190 in the past they have asked for me to increase my monthly payment, but being under the cccs we just have not had the funds, today i got a letter from income support telling me that anglia water has requested money be taken directly from benefits, they are to be given £10.84 per week, we were not told of this, and i guess its in addition to what we are paying monthly, is this right? Many thanks, P

You need to ask them what it is for as we would not be able to tell you. I would think it is for the arrears but as I don't work in the Direct payment dept for Anglian then I am only guessing.
You must be getting more then plain IS for that amount to be coming out as it is normally only about £4 per week.
They don't have to tell you I am afraid until the application is done and they have the legal right to try to recover their debt that way.
The CCCS can not stop it as all they can do is suggest that a creditor wait or take reduced payments etc.
Have you applied for the trustfund ? If not ask Anglian water about it and apply.

  • Thankyou for your reply, i get Incapacity Benefit (long term), Income Support and Disability Living Allowance, we are a family of 4 on a meter, i just thought we should of at least been told, is this amount in addition to what we pay them monthly or instead of, its a huge increase of over £10 a week, ive had to reduce our shopping bill by £10 to cover it, but we were already struggling at the amount set before i reduced it.

I just can't tell you if this amount is instead of your monthly payment or including it. You need to call them and go through the details as only they can give you that info
