a few cashback questions...
Hello all, can any of you knowledgeable people enlighten me on these issues?
If I sign a cashback contract with T-mobile, and then add the web n' walk option, have I invalidated the terms of the contract?
If I get a phone with my cashback that I don't want, is it ok to sell it?
I assumed it was, but saw something in the small print at mobileoutlet that seemed to suggest that i would be breaching the contract.
thanks, any advice greatly appreciated!

From reading their terms & conditions, you would only lose the cashback if you downgraded the tariff. Adding Web n Walk should not invalidate your deal.
As far as I know, the phone is yours to do with as you want. So long as you are paying the bill with T-Mobile so they get paid then they won't care.0 -
Thanks, that's just what I was hoping you'd say.0

Some mobile retailers (mobileoutlet being one of them) specifically say in their T&Cs that you must have the phone and the sim in use otherwise you invalidate the cashback (and they may charge you a penalty as well if I recall correctly - it is in the T&Cs). I asked this question a while ago and someone answered that you need to use the phone with the SIM so that it registers on the network when you first get it. Apparently the big issue is people getting these deals, not using the sim and selling the phone (so called box breakers - getting significantly subsidised phones and selling them) - if the sim isn't used, it flags up on the networks as a potential fraud and they then potentially clawback the commission from the retailer. However, I think this issue is mainly to do with people who are doing this on a commercial basis to rip off the retailers/networks, not our goodselves who want the sim/contract (with the cashback) and not necessarily the phone.
I would still be cautious though, as anything that will be an opportunity for the retailer to invalidate the cashback is worth avoiding.
