    hey guys simular problem

had our double glazing replaced (previous windows were double glazed, but old and had it) sept 2005. I have just got dh to chase up the fact that we were not issued with a fensa certificate. He went to the dg company and came home with a photocopied certificate guarantee for 10 years for the windows themselves and was told that when we had the windows fitted, they, the dg company, were not fensa regisitered. OMG! what are the implications of this? How can we get the windows checked? What is the best course of action? Someone mentioned to me that each pain of glass used must have a kite mark on them but i cant see any. help

only needs a kitemark if it is safety glass

only safety glass if in critical locations

critical locations are if window glass is less than 800mm from floor

and in all doors and in windows next to doors if within 300mm of the door
  • Does the seller pay for the FENSA Cert from BC or the Buyer?

You can get a replacement FENSA certificate from the FENSA website for a tenner

After having new windows and a door put in by our a builder, when it came to selling we didn't realise we needed a fensa certificate.I am sure lots of DIY's don't reliase this. If you can't produce a fensa certificate an indemity policy has to be paid for.

When the building extenson had final sign off that should have included the windows - it did for my extension.

Why don't you need a Fensa certificate on a new conservatory?More glass than a large window but exempt!

so how could they prove that the DG was installed after 2002 anyway? just say it was already in when you bought the property.
  • There is a date etched into the glass after 2002.

Should someone have a Fensa cert for a newbuild house? Or does it come disguised in some other form?

It would be part of the sign off for the house.

Could anyone confirm if this is the case please?

If this is correct, where is the date etched?

    Thanks in advance :)
