Item was posted 1st class on 16th Dec (day after payment), buyer just been in touch as not recieved. 2 other items were posted to others as part of same batch, both recieved. I have proof of postage slip.

If the buyer doesn't receive it then you would need to refund & claim from RM.
However post is likely to be slower at this time of year.0 -
As Hermum says.
However realistically if it doesn't arrive tomorrow then buyer will probably expect a refund, but there is no harm in asking them to wait until say next Wednesday or Thursday- and see if they seem happy to do that. You really don't want them opening nay sort of case against you though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Assuming they paid via Paypal then your obligation was to post it via a method with online delivery confirmation such as RM Recorded.0 -

You don't have to post with proof of delivery, if an item goes missing then you can claim up to £46 from RM with your proof of posting. The same as recorded.
Best to save your buyers the 77p it would cost them to have an item sent recorded with no additional benefits.0 -

No it isn't- and any way recorded rarely shows delivery in many areas.
You are correct in that for full seller protection sellers should send tracked- and that means special or courier- however sellers are not obliged to give themselves full seller protection should they consider the costs of doing so outweigh the benefit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Really! I had no idea of that as a personal seller selling bits & pieces. I have always gone by the level of compensation, so if selling a valuable item have increased the postage accordingly. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -

It is an obligation if you want to guarantee your payment. Yes you can ignore it, but the penalty is you instantly loose a dispute for item not received.
About 4-5% of RM Recorded dont ever come back as delivered - I claim my fees back on those. 95% is hardly 'rarely'. But its not great.
For any seller protection for item not received you mean. That does not mean just special or courier. Paypal accept International Signed For (<£150), Airsure and Recorded (<£150) provided delivery is confirmed.0 -

For full seller protection the postage requirements are here:

However you'll find many of us, including myself merely use the correct postage method to cover us against loss in the post , so for me all items up to £46 go standard mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
