Item not received by buyer

  • It is an obligation if you want to guarantee your payment. Yes you can ignore it, but the penalty is you instantly loose a dispute for item not received.

It's foolish to send a low value item by recorded delivery as not only does this mean that you have to increase your postage costs by 77p (which on a low value item could increase the total price to a level that makes it uneconomical to buy), and it also means that buyers will have to wait in for the postie to deliver an item that may only be worth a few £s.

In many cases it makes far more sense to send by 1st or 2nd class mail and simply obtain a certificate of posting.
If it doesn't arrive you can then claim up to £46 from RM.
