Next Sale!!

I received a text message for buying online in the so called Next VIP sale. I registered immediately online for a sale booking slot on 23rd December at 19.00 hours (7pm to 11pm).
So far so good you would think - but no!
This morning while having a cup of coffee I went back into the VIP area to check another item I had my eye on and you could buy all the items without having to have that pre-booked slot. All the items bar two that I had spent time writing down had gone! Out of the 17 items I had flagged I managed a handful. What exactly is the point of having a pre-booked slot if Next are going to flout it and allow you to buy the items at no fixed point? If I had known that I would have logged in and bought the items straight away. I would also add that when I booked the slot you could not buy anything at that point, just browse only.
I feel that Next have been very disingenous about this towards loyal customers. I also feel aggrieved that they have allowed this to happen in the first place. I suspect that this is a regular feature, but that many are not aware of it! There is also to factor in a loss of trust between Next and the consumer i.e me!
Has this happened to anyone else? Are any of you aware of this and is this a regular feature?

There are several slots available - the earliest being 7am today. Thos who are given the earliest warning / invitations to the sale will obviously pick the soonest they can and if they buy everything that's available then it's tough by the time the laer slots are due.
I had an early slot and there wasn;t much I wanted but a few bits I did put into my basket had gone by the time I checked out.
Next sale is a nightmare, last time there was lots I wanted, all went in the basket and then the site crashed and everything was lost. They lost around 2k of order from me as I was so angry that I had to walk away from the screen. Not so much at Next, but at the fact I'd wasted around 2 hours putting the stuff in the blinking basket!0 -
Hiya,
This isn't really an Old Style issue, it's more to do with Shopping, or Vents & Warnings, or Consumer Rights (although there's no query in the post)...
So, tell me - which board would you like it moved to?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. The earliest slot was 6pm yesterday - I suspect that many things sold out in that and the other evening slot. Most things I wanted were in stock then.2009 winnings: private box at the ballet, a cooking lesson with Jean Christophe Novelli, a case of wine, £25 itunes downloads, a candle, Football Manager PC game, a lipstick, £2500

Hi Squeaky it is over on the vents section, so I guess it could be merged with that so that the comments already on here are not lost if that is okay with you!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Hi,
I booked a 7am slot, and even then about 10 minutes in, some of the items we were keen on had gone. Also, the site became very slow, almost unusable.
It's on a first come first served basis. The problem is that a lot of people will over-order, and then just return the items they don't want to keep. This depletes the available sale stock (and sizes) for those with later slots.
Have to say, there isn't a lot of choice online, we will still have to head out to the store on Boxing day to look for most of the items we need.0
