I tried to have a go on one this morning but it froze on me and no tapping of screen would resurrect it so the assistant in the shop had to reset it.
I wasn't that impressed, and would rather spend more on something with a larger screen and that was more functional.
It's be worth it for under £100, but at £170 I'll give it a miss.

There is plenty of stock left in Currys Oldham and Warrington. Make you you reserve and collect. All reserve and collect which had not been picked up today will be put back into the 'free stock'.

Quite a few places seem to be dropping the price of the 16GB to £169 after the move by Dixons/Currys/PC World.

Carphone Warehouse now has the 32GB for £199 as well, but I think we may see some even bigger discounts on these in the next few days for the (pre) January sales.

TechFruit seem to be keeping up-to-date for the PlayBook discounts like they did with the TouchPads at

    (I can't post a link as I'm new(ish))
  • Thanks Pepperoni... at £50 spend I might have treated myself, but I dont have anything I need to spend another £200 on so will probably give it a miss. thanks for the info & Merry Christmas :D

(Disclaimer: I'm an application developer and have worked on the iPad, Android tablets and the BB Playbook)

A word of warning. If you plan on purchasing a Playbook, dont expect much. Because there are so few developers (which is DECREASING fast, NOT INCREASING) there are very few apps. If you buy one of these, its good for internet browsing - thats about it. In addition because of the financial trouble that Research in Motion are in, its highly likely based on recent events that the tablet will be discontinued within the next 2 months and not replaced with a newer model. Put simply, RIM are on the verge of going under. I'm not saying dont get one....I'm just advising people be prepared or be disappointed - do some research into it before hitting the buy button.

Personally I'd say go for an Android based tablet - you can get ones around the same specs (if not better) than the playbook for £100 - £150. Check out 'TheRegister.com' - they reviewed the budget android tablets recently and have some pretty decent recommendations.

The playbook wont go out of stock - they have millions of the things stockpiled simply because they cant shift them due to their lack of use.

Merry Xmas - hope everyone gets the bargains they want :p
  • Sorry to be a pest.. when is the £50 voucher valid from/to? TIA
