The non depend thing goes on the earning you get before tax...we used to get HB and CTB, but when my daughter left college we told them she had started working, and they reduce the housing benefit by around £49, but because it takes weeks for them to look at new info you send in i had a good 6 weeks over payment that had to be paid back, so you may find your parents have a hefty over payment in benefits that will need paying back.
Oh and they take a set amount into consideration even if you dont contribute any or as much...ie my daughter pays £40 board now she is on a decent wage, but they still deduct the £49ish, meaning we dont get any HB any more.0 -
I moved back in with my parents last year (they are pensioners) they get IS, HB, & CTB.
My dad got a letter last month stating he did not declare me living with them (non dependant) so they want to interview him. I work full time. I don't interfere with my parents finances/mail etc.
I am on the electoral role and on the yearly demand letter. On interview when my dad told then this, they stated 'but you did not tell benefits'.
Now they have asked him about my history of addresses which he has given.
What happens next? Will they check those addresses and how etc.
Thanks.
They are pensioners? Are they claiming State Pension, Pensions credit? Are either of them in poor health? Do they claim DLA or Attendance Allowance? If so what rates?0
