Liverpool accomodation

Options
Hi theres 5 guys going to liverpool for a wrestling show at the Olympia on 3rd March 2007. The 2 hostels seem to be booked out for the Satuday any ideas somewhere cheap for the saturday. 24 hr and near the centre and the olympia would help. Also going out to the Krazy House on Sat if that makes any difference. Also any tips on Liverpool in general, bars etc.

hmm if you like the Krazy house you wont like the bars I go to!!! Matthew street area has old barssuch as the cavern, lennons, flares etc, further down to the docks on water street is Newz bar, living room - waggish areas!

Concert square is good but a lot of places charge to get it and its always rammed, Kraxy house is just down from there on wood street, you might like Bar Cava next to the Kray which has all flavoured vodka that you can imagine.

Baabars on slater street is quite good for £1 shots as is slaters on slater street - very student esque - must have a "Quaddy Voddy" - 4 shots of vodka and a blue WKD - costs about £2

Classier area near Duke Street - Alma de cuba, revolution etc.

thier is a hotel called F1 http://www.hotelformule1.com/formule1/fichehotel/gb/for/3484/fiche_hotel.shtml which is about £30 a room but it's clientel are not the best and apparanlty they have a communical toilet but if you only plan on getting your head down

Probably the cheapest hotel but not the best, you could have a look on the travellodge site for cheap rooms

Located on the dock road not far from the Leo casino and the bars plus in walking distance to the bars in the albert dock like blue bar, baby cream
  • hmmm ... seeing you mention the "krazy house" (iv had many a good nite in that place)... i gather u dont mind .. "basic n cheap" rather than 5* ? .. have a look at this earlier post for ideas http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=2023165#post2023165 .. enjoy your trip

If you are KH patrons then good bars are the Swan on the top end of Wood Street, bikers bar, great beer. Also the Roadkill and Fab Cafe on Hope Street are pretty good but a bit of a walk up the hill.
Which hostels did you try? http://www.embassie.com/ is cheap and about a 10 mins from the KH, http://www.internationalinn.co.uk/ is pretty close too

P.S. I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere near the Olympia, particularly on a Saturday, if you ever saw the TV series about the nightclub called the Grafton which is next door, you will understand why ;)
There is are Campanile and Dolby hotels about 10 mins walk away too and on the Albert Dock Holiday Inn and Travel Lodge as someone else mentioned
  • I do agree with what Floyd was saying the Olympia area is a no-no!!
Hmmmm those were the days at the Grafton!!!
